Trickfish Amplification Debuts the New TF408 Bass Speaker

Trickfish Amplification unveils the all-new TF408 bass cabinet, which previewed at the 2018 Winter NAMM Show. The design is centered on the new 8” custom Eminence ferrite bass drivers, designed in conjunction with Trickfish’s System Designer Anthony Fregoso and the team at Eminence.

“This cabinet is one of the last projects we were able to work on with Trickfish founder Richard Ruse. He no doubt wanted to capture the focus and speed of the 8” drivers but also wanted to harness that power into the right enclosure to make a 4x8 that would stand up to the highest demands. The TF408 features impressive specifications making it a great stand-alone cabinet and an absolute game changer as a two-cabinet stack. Weight-saving measures were taken into account while not losing the main objective of a killer compact cabinet that would be at home on stages of all sizes.

I gotta think it's going to be weight, since an 8" driver can do basically what a 10" can but will be lighter in weight. Bergantino has a new 410 cab that's about this same weight however, with neo drivers, and much more expensive. MOST 410's are far heavier though.

OHhhhhh... this is intriguing. I bought the orange combo amp with an 8 inch speaker in it thinking it wouldn't sound great but it would work for practice, but I actually love the way it sounds. I'll have to look out for demos of this.

That's due to quality construction and bracing. Baltic Birch instead of lightweight poplar or plywood. I'd rather have solid anyday. But yup I'm biased and the weight of a cab never stopped me. The size and dimensions of a cab are more important to me. For example instead of getting their 4x10 I opted for two SM210V's. The 210's weigh like 56lbs but are easier to move than the 410. But that's just me, to each his own is what I say.

Some would argue but IMO and I've played through these cabs, response is quicker, punchier, and more articulate.

Possible as I've noticed the bigger the speaker is the less punchy and dynamic it gets.

All depends on the sound we wish to achieve and distance of projection.
Small drivers produce quick and higher frequency response, Xmax and Sound Pressure Level determine
how far sound will travel, moving air. Unfortunately, I did not locate the small perimeters on these speaker cabinets,
but I'll try and call to the company.
