Interesting! How did you settle on these as your top filters/what was it about each you liked most?

I’ve tried all but the Moog and, like you, rate them highly. I have three of the list on boards at the moment. I also have a board with a JoshWah on it, and rate the Proton and Discumbobulator too. It’d be interesting to hear why those in the list made the cut while the others didn’t.

Please correct me if I read you incorrectly, but:

These are not filters. Rather, specifically each is a filter controlled by an envelope follower.

Speaking of pedal format devices, an example to the contrary would be Paragraphs by Vongon. It is a LPF, and it has an LFO, but it does not have an envelope follower; so presumably it would not qualify for your comparison.

Yes the C4 will do everything the Spectrum does, and a whole lot more, but it is set up very differently so in some ways making it easier to approach for envelope and octaver sounds.

#2/3 Source Audio Spectrum / C4 Synth covers so many sounds classic to my crazy creations.
# 4 Seamoon Funk Machine such a unique sound and feel.

Very much so. However, if it's just octaves and filters you are looking for, the the Spectrum has all four of it's knobs that are re-assignable. The C4 only has two. This makes that Spectrum a slightly better dedicated box of filters for me. But the C4 does it all too. It's amazing how much ground a C4 can cover.

The most important factor in a filter, to me, is having duel controls for wet and dry. Makes all the difference how easy it is to play the filter the way you want. It's always tough to use at a gig if you can't hear it well enough and you play harder which just kills the envelope I want. Even though the folks who prefere the price point of pedals mentioned above may scoff, the MXR Env. Filter is everything I want in this pedal category as it was the wet and dry knobs

3) Grease Juicer

I'm about to try the FwonkBeta, it sounds good in the practice room.
