Good stuff, thanks. His bass is really is pretty high; long reach to 1/2 position. Funky ergonomics (left leg?), my teacher would have a fit. Love the use of 'berimbau' riff on the intro/outro. His tone reminds me of Eddie G.

It's just that I have played this tune behind singers and whenever this line comes up ( in English) it makes me laugh - maybe it's just me!

I like the chord sequence though!

I do think the rhythm of the language has a big impact and you hear this in Brazilian music a lot .. probably can't be translated. I love the sound of the voice in the sort of vowel sounds that we don't have in English - the AO sound..?

Great player, lots of passion in the note choices. Electric bass tone. I'd like to hear that piece without the pickup cranked so high in the mix. Get the bass closer to the piano mics and let it bleed in, or simply put a mic in front of the bass.

You saw Crosby?! I wish I could see that mental photo.
The only legends I've seen perform are elvin jones & billy Higgins. Oh and jimmy cobb recenlty. Wayne Shorter& Peter erskine--out of the later cats.
