Double Bass Trieste

I can't figure out if it's a big bass or that he's a short guy :)
Israel Crosby, the one time I saw him in Chicago--from the sidewalk, through an open doorway-- left me with the same impression--a classic snapshot moment :smug:

Great player, lots of passion in the note choices. Electric bass tone. I'd like to hear that piece without the pickup cranked so high in the mix. Get the bass closer to the piano mics and let it bleed in, or simply put a mic in front of the bass.

You saw Crosby?! I wish I could see that mental photo.
The only legends I've seen perform are elvin jones & billy Higgins. Oh and jimmy cobb recenlty. Wayne Shorter& Peter erskine--out of the later cats.
