There are no plurals in Chinese. We asked a friend from China why the take out place always says 'Ten minute' and she said, 'Well, I'm already telling you that there are 10 of something so why would I have to put an 's' on the end for you to know it's plural?' Yeah, but....good point.

Tom Dowd, creator of the Multi Track recording method, also worked on the Manhattan Project as a Physicist. When he applied to University, he was denied, because he couldn't put the Manhattan Project on a list of past experiences, because it was still classified at the time.
Guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter also works as a defense consultant and chairs a U.S. Congressional Advisory Board on missile defense.

Also the spoken languages of Mandarin and Cantonese are different enough that Cantonese and Mandarin speakers can't converse with each other verbally. However the written character sets are close enough that they could write to each other and (mostly) understand.
I dated a woman from the Philippines who could speak 5 languages fluently - Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Spanish, and English. Pretty amazing. However, when she worked at a business in Virginia, all the employees were from many different countries such as Thailand, Pakistan, Columbia, the Philippines, China, and other countries and the only common language they could speak and write was English to communicate with each other.

The hot rod '55 Chevy in Two Lane Blacktop is the same '55 Chevy driven by Falfa (Harrison Ford's character) in American Graffiti.
Spanky in The Wizard drives the Hawk Hauling truck, the one Sly drives in Over the Top. I doubt anybody remembers these cheesy 80's movies but they were pinnacle of NES and arm wrestling cultures respectively. A very young Toby Maquire also has a bit role in The Wizard.
here's a few random ones that I enjoyed lately:
- having north pointing upwards on maps is a pretty recent thing.
- some jobs that popes have had before they were pope: bar bouncer, soccer goalkeeper, librarian, Nazi soldier.
- a common form of red food colouring, "carmine" or E120, is made from crushed up and boiled insects.
- Freddie Mercury was Indian.

I thought every Hummer sent over for Operation Desert Storm came home functioning. I could be wrong on that, it might have just been propaganda.
I also know a Game Boy survived being bombed during Desert Storm. They have it on display in the Nintendo store of NYC.
