I want to continue with the ifs and now I'm being a bit superficial too.
If the Streamliner is not for me, does anyone know any all-tube amps or older solidstates that are not wider than 21 inches as I would like them to match my Barefaced cab. Of course this is not the priority number one.

No, not unless you have more spkr cabs. A tube head must have a load. Why don't you just wait an see what the gear you already bought sounds like?

Darkglass pedals made in Finland would be cool to try out with the SL.

Orange AD200 would look cool, lends itself to high gain, not a whole lot of power.

You can't use a tube amp for tone and a power amp for power unless it's a small tube amp that you can attenuate. Even then it won't sound the same as the tube amp driving a speaker.

No, nor should it be, right? My personal preference is the 400+. I think its versatility gives it the edge.

Still, Jeff's right, run the GB up the flagpole & see who salutes.

I own both the Streamliner 600 and the Traynor YBA 200-2. Both are excellent heads. I will tell you that the Streamliner has a baked in old school tube like tone. not hi-fi at all. it is more versatile than most people give it credit for though.

I agree.. I own a 900.. and it is anything but Hi-Fi in it's overall tone.. although you can get close to it by tweaking it.. To the OP I was going to suggest a 15.. get an 8 ohm 15.. rated at at least 400W ... but I see yo already ordered one.. I think if you give the SL a chance you may like it.. Follow the suggestions of others in this thread.. The SLs are great heads and IMO they get a bum rap for being too muddy because they don't seem to follow the same EQ principles that other heads do but I can get a wide variety of tones from mine .. Maybe my bass' preamp has something to do with that but I love mine.

Once you get the cab and play it with a band then you will know if it is doing what you want. Report back either way.

I also think youll be pleasently surprised..I think youll be able to get your desired tone out of that head.
