8 lug steel 16.5" with original hub caps. I'm going to have to make the call if I drop the $500+ on rims before the $700 on tires.

Yup, that is the dilemma. Current rubber is dry rotted so do I buy new tires for $700ish or try to scrape together another $400+ to get the rims first and the tires to fit them? Money IS an object at this point
I have been told by a neighbor that the guy on the other side of him works at a tire place... new tires for his little Isuzu longbed 'found' their way to him last week for a 30 pack of Bud Light
Not sure I'm okay with having that happen for me, but I am thinking a set of tall skinny snows @ 16.5 might be a good thing to hang onto... or I'll just hit up the local tire places for some used. I hear a truck ain't a REAL truck unless it has worn miss-matched rubber 
Thanks, I had wanted polished salt flats, but wasn't aware it has 8-lug rims. I'm looking for retro street rod in the rims and steering wheel...

Super Start 750 CCA, 2 year replacement. I'm getting rid of the truck soon, so the cheapest was the best for me right now. $115 at O'Reilley, plus tax. Speaking of which, I hate getting charged and then reimbursed a core charge when I change the part in the parking lot.
Ill be installing a new lockable center differential in my land rover discivery this week. Oh joy

I used to drive a 49 Chevy Half ton with a 52 engine. Three on the tree, striaght six engine. You could open the hood and step inside to work on the engine. In 52 the came out with and oil pump that increased engine life and perfomance. The wipers worked off the vaccuum in the carborator, Thwpt, Thwpt,Thwpt, the faster you drove the faster the wipers went. Top speed was 55 mph and you could only do that for a short time but you could drive up the steepest hill in San Francisco with no problem. No power steering so you got an upper body workout parking the truck. I loved that truck , it broke my heart when I had to sell it because I was moving to the east coast. You wouldn't want to take one of these trucks on a long drive, they weren't built for that. It looked like this one:

I wouldn't feel right with hot rubber on my truck, and I kinda doubt many tire shops have a set of 16.5's just hanging around in the back room.
For the time being I'd go used.
Mike, maybe you can help me out with my dilemma.
How bad is it to have CAI when you offroad a lot. Mostly dust, little mud and some water crossing.

You think dust/water going to be much of an issue with CAI? Also, will it help/hurt with altitude? Is the thing worth the trouble (not money, just trouble)

I would agree, I've had mud and stuff splashing over the hood of my Jeeps (bother of them, a Wrangler and a Cherokee) and the air cleaner was fine.
As far as efficiency and power gains...on newer vehicles I'm not sold because they are engineering the crap out of every piece of the vehicle due to emissions and stuff...competition is fierce so the intake and exhaust systems on newer vehicles are generally pretty good, and on some vehicles aftermarket intakes/exhuasts have actually decreased performance :/.

So the bolts holding the bell housing and the engine keep coming loose on my truck. I have to tighten them back down every month month and a half. It's really starting to piss me off too. Any ideas on how to fix this?
