I'm still playing the peavey.
I was just listening to some stuff I recorded with a guitarist friend almost 20 yrs ago. I was using a White Dynabass with super ferrites, through an old Blue Tube preamp. Man what a mean sounding setup, really nasty in the rock context.
I am going to have to increase the Super Ferrite inventory real soon!

And they are active/passive, for more tonal variation. But still got the Super Ferrite nasty tone we all love.
I've had my inca silver Lakland 55-01 since 2002. It's the only 5 string that I like. No matter what else I play, I keep coming back to that bass.
Actually the Dyna and the foundation are very similar in shape, comfort wise. Nearly identical, as well as same neck profile, and pickup placement. Biggest difference is the active/passive electronics, and the way upgraded hardware.
The $400.00 price high? Not really. The sound is worth It, like your foundy on steroids. If I knew how to put sound clips straight to the forum, I would send you a couple from my old Dyna 4 recordings 20 yrs. ago. I just haven't figured out how to use all the tools here yet.

I think it's the headstock that bothers me about the Dynabass.

Same headstock, just painted. Maybe a little smoother, but same.
Yes, foundy on steroids. In passive you get the stock SF sound. Then flip the switch, and you have active eq applied to the SF sound. So yes, on steroids.

The script logo and lined boarder is kinda cheesy IMO.
Not a big deal, if the tone is there.

Not laughing at you, just find it funny that the lined boarder is what turns you off. The script logo and lined boarder are the easiest way to identify the most desirable of all of the Peavey basses. The Pinstripe headstock era basses were the best of all of them.
Not suggesting that you dump your current, or that the dyna's are better than your current bass. They are all great basses, way under-rated. Foundies are still found in pro studios across the country, the "go to tone monster".
Just letting you know the other family members of the foundy, that deserve a look as well, if you are so inclined. Nothing wrong with sticking with the foundy, I love my Patriot.
