True Love?

Are any of you completely enamored with one particular bass?

If so, which one and why?

I've been fairly promiscuous with my basses in the past, but my latest acquisition has got me reeling and head over heels in love.

Everything about it is just right. I never thought I'd settle down with a single bass.....but I may as well just marry the bass....it's perfect.

Josh, what bass are you referring to?

For me, I've always loved my Yamaha BB3000MA bass. It's the one bass I've never considered selling (except maybe when I took a year off from music). It's just a great bass particularly for Rock. It has pretty high output for a passive bass, and there's an "aggressive" quality to the tone that apparently works for me.

However as time goes on we'll have many basses and only a handful, if that, will be the ones that stand out. Worse yet, there are the ones we sold and have regretted doing so. With me the love affair wears off after a few months. If I were to say there is one I do miss it's my Spector LX6. Other than that........just fond memories.

oddly enough, a USA Peavey Foundation 5. :D

I've still got quite a few other basses....Stingray5, Corvette$$5, and a few others......

I like the ray and vette but that peavey is something else.


Interesting, you dig a really high output passive bass too. :cool::cool:

I read this line alot about a "new" bass here on TB from many folks, then oddly enough less than a year later you see the bass listed in the classifieds. Yup I'm getting at the honey moon here, of course everyone says 'X' is the best ever, and they've only had it a very short time. I think a bass has to prove it's staying power. ;)

I'm sure it'll end up being a custom/frankenbass...

But for now, My '82 Peavey T20 is THEE best bass i have ever owned. The tone, the feel, the aesthetic... SO MUCH GOOD!


However, right now i am enfatuated with short scales... specifically Mustangs and Musicmasters... so we'll see...



Hmm.... a shortscale with the slanty T20 Superferrite pup....... :ninja:

Yep. That does happen, and I've been guilty myself.:o

Good point....it isn't confirmed true love until you've owned and played it exclusively for a while.

That said, I've never felt this way about a bass. ever.
I've been shuffling basses for almost an entire year now.
As soon as I played it I was smitten. I've played two gigs with it so far, and absolutely enjoy playing it.

I hope my love lasts.

My 62 & 75 P/J's. We're in a polygamous relationship...both very different animals that satisfy my very different needs. It works out well. No jealousy from either party.

I have three right now, and a forth I will be betting back soon. None of which I can separate myself from, except the forth, but I knew I would get that one back, so no worry. Once I have the forth back, that will be it, and time to find the perfect amp.

Warmoth Jazz 5 all birdseye.
Peavey Patriot.
Bogart fretless 5, soon to be mine again.

This thing:

ESP LTD F-4E. Sustains for days, plays silky smooth. The neck is fairly chunky, which is good for me. It has a 41mm Tusq nut and 19mm string spacing at the bridge. It can go from sweet and mild, to dark and growly, to bright and ringing with just a few turns of the pre-amp controls. So far, it has given me every tone I've asked of it. I just love it.

I have it strung with Dunlup stainless steel Heavy (50, 70, 90, 110) strings.
