I'm saving up for a DP on an A3... it will have to be after our wedding, though.

Shhh!!! We weren't supposed to "come out" just yet! :p

 That sounds killer... Have you driven an RS6?:

No, I have not, but I'd love to! Here is mine:

I'm very interested in this pre. Subscribin' early :D
Well, I've got one for sale in the appropriate forum!

The NOS tubes I've used with it are listed in the ad, because they are included in the price.

The biggest difference I noticed between the tubes was the gain difference between the 6sN7GTB GE w/ side getter and 6SL7WGT JAN Sylvania. The higher Mu let's you overdrive it a bit and helps you get a meaner sound out. The tonal differences are subtle, at least between these two tubes. Of course, my hearing may not be as nuanced as some on this board.:help:

But if you like a clean preamp and prefer to get your tonal nuances from your OB Pre, this is the way to go.

nice S6!!.... want one... in black though.

I just got word from the cat who is selling me his TV Pre, should be in the mail tomorrow and I'll have it by monday next week. :hyper:

I've got 3 gigs next week, including 2 outdoor 'summerfest-like' gigs that I get to try it out on.
:bassist:

My TV preamp showed up yesterday and I absolutely love it. :hyper:

I used my Bongo (HHp with 4 band EQ) and my 31" scale piccolo bass (single passive neck pickup) and both sounded great. I only used the headphone output, but I managed to try out two different tubes.

Recording is in the agenda for the weekend, so if I am not too lazy, there might be samples early next week. :D

Late to this thread, but thought I would just say:

My TV only came with one tube, so I don't have any experience with hearing different tubes through it.

I really like the sound and I have been playing regularly with it for about 6 months now. I run it through a bridged Crown CE1000 into a Schroeder 2x12 I also bought from Brian. The sound is very fat.

I play a Lakland 55-01 and and Ergo 5. The Lakland is great, but the tubes really seem to make the Ergo sound great. People really like the warmth.

The TV has been totally reliable. But with people talking about swapping out tubes and such, maybe I should ask Brian what I am missing :)

SO!?!!?!? How'd it go? :D
Actually it sounded great that night... bunch of tweaking needed to happen, cause it had soooo much higher gain to it than when it was first manufactured. The previous owner modified it a little too much, so I'm sending it back to Brian to have it put back to spec, I was reluctant to write up any thing about it till I get it back.

So, more waiting...
:(

I'm really thinking about grabbing one of these to go with an IP112 (and later a 212). Any more info floating around?

If you like a full, slightly warm, verty articulate, midrange-rich, complex, musical preamp, then the TV is a wonderful choice, and the IP cabs really let it show its stuff. :)

Don't know why i've missed this post for two days  :p

Would you say that the basstasters clips are a fair representation of the sound? To my ear the tung sol tube sounds like it has more of a low mid prescence which for me is awesome in the fingerstyle dept. But i prefer whatever the other tube is for playing complex chords and slap because it sounds more clear. Am i hearing things or are they really that different?

I'm very intrigued by the tonal balance knob too. Any comments on its usefulness?

And excuse me if none of this makes sense....it's 4am and i can't sleep being that i start my new job in oh....5hrs
