Truly portable stage monitor solution?

Hi - I'm looking for advice / experience with getting a stage monitor / amp for live gigs which I can carry (along with my bass) to gigs.

Almost any gig I play (a few a month) involves:

- 10 minute walk to train (usually raining ... Scotland )
- 10 minute train ride
- 10 minute walk to the office
- stash gear under or beside desk until I finish work
- 10 minute walk to gig

... so as you can see, a rig that's portable "if you have a car" isn't going to help!

I only really need it as a stage monitor to ensure I can hear myself to be honest.

Advice?

are you paying through the pa system?
i think tec amp makes powerd cabs, they are very light for what the are, but pricey.

Usually the gigs are either amp (whatever's there) + DI to PA, or just straight to PA with no amp.

I had a tech21 Sansamp BDDI, but if I'm going to PA only it doesn't help me control my own stage volume.

Those TEC cabs look really promising - could be a perfecto solution (after a little saving)!

My father uses the PMB5 that is listed. He plays blue grass country western and has several of these for monitors and mains. They sound amazing and actually have a pretty good volume level.
