Truss rod

Hey talkbass. I bought a Carvin LB76 a few months ago and upon removing the truss rod cover I saw something I'm not sure about. Any help is appreciated

Looks like the end of a truss rod to me. What are you concerned about? The excess threads sticking out?

Seriously though; the white stuff? That's buffing compound that they put on a buffing wheel to make the clearcoat all (insert Scottish accent) shinney.

My question is how to adjust this type of truss rod, that wasnt clear in the original post. I have only encountered truss rods with allen key adjustments. Sorry for the out of focus photo. The only camera I have is on my crappy flip phone.

You want a long handled (hollow) nut driver that matches the nut on the truss rod. As to what size, well, you will have to figure that out as you have the bass in hand (and we don't ). Or, call Carvin, they should be able to tell you what size, and probably be able to sell you the tool, too (albeit at a higher price than your local Ace Hardware store).

Failing a LONG handled nut driver (they can be hard to find) you can use a deep well thin wall socket and an extension.
