Truth be told...

I phoned the number on the Trace site today.
"Hello, Peavey UK."
"Hi :), can I speak to Clive in the Trace Elliot department"
"sorry.. etcetec"

:)
I will confirm tomorrow when I call and hopefully find out as much info as poss!
Clive (managing directer) has been very busy for the past 2 weeks, so I'm going on a wild guess thinking that he's dealing with marketing and production. but then, I dunno, it could also be that he's sorting things out with Peavey as well.

eeeeee!!!

Okay, so I emailed Peavey and this is what they said to me.

Peavey said:
We are pleased to announce that Peavey will be handling the
distribution of Trace Elliot. You can find out more about the new
product line at
www.trace-elliot.co.uk
Look for the product in June.

It's not real specific about just how the relationship works, but it's "official" in that it is a direct response from Peavey.

(I also posted this in the "umm, what the ..." thread)

OK, i'm just off the phone with Trace.

Peavey do indeed own Trace-Elliot. They bought name last week.
They hope to have the new line in shops from late Summer.
It will be the original Trace MD in charge (Clive Roberts) and a few original egineers working on the new products.
Products will be manufactured in the UK :D.
Heads will be in the range from £600-£1200!
They are going to be sending me a brochure in the coming weeks, so I'll let ya's know any details on that.
The new line of products have been started completly from scratch.
"At the moment" they are working on the SS side of products, however they do still incorporate the SS/Valve circuit - so the pre amps do have tubes!
Pre's will be available in 7 band or 12 band.
Didn't ask about combos, sorry or cabinets, I imagine they will be ina similiar price range to the heads.

Clive Roberts was the MD back in the early 90s, as I understand. When Gibson pulled the plug, he became involved with Peavey and Hartly, and they managed to buy the name back from Gibson. Hooray! :hyper:

So it is indeed official, ladies and gentlemen. Peavey own Trace Elliot, of which however shall be run independantly!
MON THE GREENERS!!!

:D :D

I spoke to Paul Stevens a couple of years ago in Birmingham, MusicLive! (UK) and he was working for Peavey at the time too. It was when they had just released those BAM amp/modeling bass range. He designed the updated V-types (V4 and V8) and had a hand the other ranges too. Hope he is still on board...
