Over the years I've bought and sold over 100 items on craigslist. Very few issues, almost all good experiences. But these past couple of years, it has become much more difficult. Mostly because 90% of the inquiries are scammers, the other 10% want it for pennies on the dollar.
But my wife and I (in our 60s) have reached the point where we have accumulated so much stuff that our house needs a major decluttering. Unfortunately, our very expensive (and large) furniture pieces have no place to go. Not only does nobody want these classic pieces, but they often don't have the room for them. (I can understand in a way...I would never want my grandparents' furnishings, either.)
Today, it seems most people aren't looking for solid, higher quality furniture as much as they are content with Ikea-type semi-disposable stuff that cost a fraction of the well-made stuff. Even consignment stores we called weren't interested as they said it wasn't what their customers are looking for.
