Currently just making templates, but basically it's gonna be a 34" scale Telecaster style bass. I enlarged the body a bit and played with a couple of the lines. It'll be a simple P Bass setup. Nothing fancy here, just a good "workhorse" bass.

Templates almost finished...gotta locate the bridge screw holes, but otherwise it's good to go....

Not that there is a ton of interest in this, but the body is shaped and routed. I just need to locate the bridge, drill a couple channels, do the roundovers, jack hole, and sand it...then I can get started spraying finish !
Hi ! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I probably won't make any except for "personal use". the reason is that I have very limited tools, so it makes building these a lot more of a challenge than someone with a full shop or CNC....so of course I'd end up overcharging for it.
HOWEVER .....
This guy makes bodies kinda like mine and has good prices...i'm sure he can set up for whatever pickup setup you need, etc ....

Nice looking bass! Do you expect to have any neck dive issues? I know the upper horn on most basses tend to align with the twelfth fret, so strapped on they balance well.

Love poplar, if I'm going with a solid color. Easy to work, easy to finish, and makes a great sounding instrument. What's not to like?
I have thought about doing something similar, only 32" scale(or whatever scale I can get to work on a standard tele body size. I like short scales anyway. Only problem is knowing where to put the p pickup on that body.

Finished up the body and sprayed a couple coats of black paint - it'll dry "semi-gloss". I'm not taking a bunch of time with this build since it's really just to test my templates...besides, I have gigs to play, so it'd be nice to have this built for Saturdays show....

Should be ok - i'm using light tuners and I took care to make sure that the body isnt "too light"...I guess I'll find out though
As of this moment it is almost complete. It is assembled and playing great. I need an electrosocket jack and some pickguard material to finish it up....
I'll take better photos when it is complete, but these are good enough for now. The last two were just taken - it's almost 4am ...so don't expect good quality pics !
All in all, not bad for a few days work !

Slightly better pics of it's current state. It's a grey day in Austin, so I'll take better photos when the weather is nice and once I've cut a pickguard for it ....Anyway....
