I find this especially true with the tone knobs -- man, you can get a lot of bass out of this thing if you over EQ!

Well, I voted 2 although my first instinct was to go with 1 - only because 2 sounded tubier and warmer and I was thinking you sly devil - this could be intentionally exaggerated with the VT? Alright so who knows - but 2 it is.

So either I am right and the VT does a great job or it is the Grand Daddy SVT : ) Either way both tracks sounded good Jimmy - not to mention the SX sounded good too and even the man behind it :D

I still regret that I never bought an SVT back in the day there was a period when they were abundant - especially when players started down sizing to some of the newer Amps.

Let me guess Jimmy. The VT will be sitting in front of your LMII? Not a bad setup at all. You'll get the sound you love and 500 clean watts to push it with.

I liked the LMII but alone I didn't dig it as I thought it lacked some character. I ran my avalon-U5 thru signal through it and it beefed it up a lot. I'm sure running this into the LMII would do pretty much the same thing (except SVT-like instead of avalon-like). Definitely a good way to cop the sound and come in at less than 10 lbs.

I cant tell from those clips. They both sound awesome Jimmy :D

Is that with your Heil PR-40?

Too many factors I dont have intimate knowledge of (what your bass sounds like recorded as uncoloured as possible (ie DI straight to disk with the most transparent pre poss etc). How bright that bass sounds, the age of the strings etc.

Given the fact that both clips sound so similar the Sansamp does a great job to my ears. Certainly if its this hard to figure out like this, then in a mix or post mastering I doubt anyone could tell for sure.

I'm voting for #2 as the SVT though I have never played through one.

I'd also be interested in hearing a comparison between your SVT rig running "native" and your Markbass rig with the VT pedal in the signal chain.

What do you think?
