honestly, i'm not a huge fan of the alembic pre either. it's a good one but i think there's better out there. but everyone has different tastes so i'm not surprised that some folks love it.
and that dude on basstasters puts those pres through the wringer, and i've found that if i like something on there, i like it in real life, and vice versa. so while it wouldn't be my only way of choosing gear, my tastes reflect what i hear on there.
