Tube or Solid State?

The Sweet, Warm, Ballsy, Growl, of SS.
What goes in - comes out the same - only louder.

If what goes in comes out the same, then your sweet, warm, ballsy growl isn't coming from your SS amp.

My favorite right now is a tube preamp and solid state power amp. Although I haven't been able to play test an all tube amp.

Right - (Quality) SS amps are meant to amplify whatever comes before them. From a pre or signal processing (modeling, stomps, etc) and just make it louder.

Solid state. I love the sound of my bass uncolored.

Tube. I love fat, warm tube color all over my bass sound.

Used to have a hybrid Eden and sold it because I wanted a cleaner, quicker sound. I bought a SS Glockenklang (which is actually more expensive than some tube heads, esp. in the USA) and I've never been happier. SS for me. And if you think that SS doesn't have presence... well you've obviously been playing the wrong SS heads.

all tube, all the time! i've played some solid state amps that sounded wonderful, but for me, tubes are the only way to go.

i keep going towards SS.. i really wanted to like tubes.. but the closes i could get to going for a tube sound was a sansamp.. but... thats still SS.. haha

I generally like tube but really like the Ampeg SS stuff.

Personal preference I guess as I really dislike GK SS gear as an example and many people love it.
