Tube pre?

I have an MB212 and a BB5000 with flats.- together a nice sound, but I think it needs a bit of tube fatness. I did a session with a Demeter DI / tube pre, and went straight into the board and the tone was perfect - the right amount of meat and body, so I'd like to try to get that sound. I have a digitech BP8 that I dragged out of the closet, in an attempt to see if its tube could get close to the sound of the Demeter, but I haven't had much success. Maybe I need to mod the BP8 or I'm not setting it right, or maybe I need to get another tube pre. Ideas, suggestions, etc.?

Try simply putting a cool tube in the BP8 since you have it... in case... I have a NOS american tube in mine and it has it's uses... got mine in a garage sale...
