Tubepath 5.1 struggling....

I have a Warwick tubepath 5.1 and tonight It wouldnt start properly...

I got to the gig and none of the lights on the front pannel lit up. Tried differnt power leads, speakon leads and it just wasnt having it,

At the time it was sending a really horrible noise though my cab too... turned it off straight away!

gigged with my Warwick 10.1 Xtreme so I was alright...

so figured id have a quick set up when I got home...

Still not lighting up, put a lead in with a bass and its not sending any noise from bass...

But it is making a kind of buzzing noise regardless of anything being in the input or not.

Any ideas at what I could be looking at?

It did take a tumble begining of week and havent had a chance to try it since then so I guess my first port of call is to have a look inside in the morning, but starting this thread to see if I guage some other ideads of what it might be?

Now my xtreme wont start either?

Any ideas where to start with that? The power lead is fine, and so is the fuse next ti it inside the amp?

Try cleaning the effects loop jacks of the Xtreme with deoxit and/or running a plug in and out of it a few times quickly. Also, when you have an amp with a tube in it, that's always the most convenient place to look first and the cheapest thing to fix if that's the problem. If not, tech time, but those are two things you can do on your own.

Don't these amps have a tube running the power section?
Either way, I'd be definitely checking the tube/s especially after a fall/knock.

Tubepath is now working <3 SOOOOOOOOOOOO Happy!!!!!

Problem was one of those four things ive pointed the screwdriver at in the picture below had come off the connection.

Whilst there I made sure everything else was pushed in properly and I noticed that (I think Its the power tube?) wasnt in straight, It still lit up and pretty sure it still had a good connection but just gave me an idea of it being a bit of a bang when it dropped

Still no Joy with the xtreme this morning though No nothing about amps but figured whilst having tools out, Take the top off and see if anything jumps out. nothing obvious and everything looks sooooo clean!

Will try and get this booked in somewere next week how ever still welcome ideas of possible problem?

I Love mine! besides this accident which i guess is no ones fault but my own, its been pretty bomb proof!

Didnt take me long to get a nice sound out of it! if im honest, The only dial I touch is the volume and gain.. oh and the bass if where playing a dodgey venue

Where I live were kinda limited to testing whats about, but since having this set up. cant say I want to try anything else head wise

I mean persumably, if your looking at one, Id take a guess that you where looking in the direction of getting that warwick 'sound'? I know that Sam Rivers of Limb Bizkit uses 10.1 Tubepaths played through a set of the warwick wca pros! Think his sound is freaking awesome!

If you look in the upper left corner of his pic you will see a large fan forced heat sink. That is the SS output module. Look in the lower right corner you will see three small preamp tubes. Only one large transformer. There is an amp guts thread that shows quite a few tube amp guts.

Here is my old Ampeg V4-B, upper left has the four large output tubes and below them the output transformer. Those are the things to look for with a tube output amp.

Thanx "B"- Yeah I'm familiar with Tube amps, O/T's etc... Not THAT familiar that I'd go sticking my fingers in em tho
But I remember reading something about (I thought Tubepath Warwicks- may've been another) a Warwick amp that had a tube in the output section?? & iirc- was a pre amp type tube.
I must try & find the mag I read it in.

Could have been the taller 6BQ5/EL84 type? But preamp tubes do not have the dissipation to make any kind of output power. They are suited to small voltage gain stages, not to large power output (V/I).

Yes, there is in fact 5W second stage with EL84. It's a cool feature and gives grunt to the sound which you can power up to 500W (or 1000W) with transistors.
