Double Bass Tuner for DB?

I've tried a bunch of tuners and the best one for me is the Korg DT4. I plug it into the SEND jack on my AI and can see it clearly on a dark stage even when it's way down near the floor. Plus it looks like something out of Star Trek.

I highly recommend the OT-12. I do NOT recommend the AW-1 as it has trouble locking onto the bottom string. I have always wanted one of the Peterson tuners - either a StroboStomp or StroboFlip but really, how many tuners does one person need?

Em11 is very good idea! Mostly I ask just a G major triad, for the G string and tuning the rest realtvely, I listen the fifth of the open G with the octave flag of the D etc.
Otherwise I also have a Boss TU-2, it's an exelent tuner, but in most situation I'm laggard to bring it.
I used the 9v Boss TU2 for many years, then to reduce bulk, changed to the thin little KORG, which is sized like a deck of cards but half as thick. Both were fine, but I like the On-Board "Intellitouch" ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) clip-on best of all because it doesn't require a patch cord connection. BTW, I clip it to the peg box, not the bridge of the bass. OK, the little nut-bolt that holds the pivoting clip device to the tuner did work loose once, but On-Board had a new one to me two days after I phoned-in the problem to them. I used an infitesimally small dab of blue Lok-Tite on the miniscule bolt threads when I put it back together and have experienced no further problems in over three years.
I always tune to a Dm triad for my D string. It works well if there's other strings tuning because you tune your D while others tune their A. I also tune my D string when hearing an A because it seems easier to hear the fifth than hear an A with 3 octaves in the middle.
+1. I'm old school too. The only thing is that I hold the tuning fork between my teeth after smacking it on something. That way my whole brain rattles with A440.
I've playing around with a new Zoid Z-1000 clip-on tuner from Sabine.

For me, clipped on to the bridge, it does better than any of the other clip-ons I have: Meisel MCT-8L, Intelli IMT-500, FZone FT-800. (OK, so I've got 2 Basses & several Ukuleles).
Maybe a little "spindly" feel, compared to the others, but very quick to lock on, and bright clear display.
BTW, I continue to be quite happy with my Peterson Strobostomp-2.

FWIW, I noticed this thread in another forum recently, where the eNote clip-on tuner by Eleca ($30 retail, $20 street) gets some good reviews.
Hey I recently ordered an Upton hybrid with a solo II and I was wondering whats the best method of tuning? I'm thinking of picking up a boss tu-2 anyway for my (dare I say) guitar/ EB pedal board and was wondering if it will work well with my solo II. At the music shop I work at we also carry clip on tuners that work by vibration, they recomend them for cello's but since I already need the TU-2...
what do you guys think?

Although I have old Seiko Needle Tuner that I use at home I've never really trusted them in a performance where a piano is involved, so I use the old tried and true method of the d minor chord to tune the a A String and go from there. I kind of view tuning like performing, it's an art that you need to master. Your ears are far more accurate if you learn to trust them.

+1! My wife had an Intellitouch for her acoustic guitar and I was never very impressed with trying to use it on bass, at least upright. Had problems locking on A & E. She very recently replaced it with a Sabine Z-1000, however, and when I tried it it locked right in! It rocks and is very affordable. She paid just $25 at a local retailer.
I think I've been attaching these on the tuning peg box, however, not the bridge.
I've tried the Intellitouch on my Czech upright clipped to bridge.
It didn't work, maybe I had a bad model, but I've heard the same from other DB players.
I put my vote in one more time for the Korg CA30 it always works and I have not changed the batteries in it for months and it's still picking up.
I put velcro on the back of the Tuner and the other side of the velcro on the top side of the upper bout, it pretty much lives there now.

On stage I wanted something that won't react so much to the noise. Got a little micro thing from Bob G and it is good in a pinch, has a piezo and just clips on the bridge. Not so easy to work with though, has trouble figuring out what note it is, so it's slow going there. Everybody has to wait while Bill plucks the same note bout 20 times.
I also got a Korg DT-10 but discovered it is a hassle to get it set up and use it in line. Rick at AI suggested I run the send line from the Clarus and that seems to work pretty well, for some reason even better if I run it back on the return line and crank up the send level. That way it's not in line and doesn't impact the sound to the amp.
I see Korg has a DT7 also, says it's specially for bass (and guitar). Does anyone have any experience with that one? Is that just marketing or is it really good for bass?

I've had good success with the Korg GA-30. It does a great job of detecting bass pitches quickly, as long as you've set it for Bass rather than Guitar (and it remembers which you've set it for).

For me the Korg AW-1 works great.
Especially using a bow.

I bought a Pitch Pocket tuner from our friend Johnny Atomic who is a dealer for them. It was cheap and it's very well made.
I tried a bunch of tuners before this one both the inline type and clip-on and most of them had trouble locking onto the pitch.
The Pitch Pocket tuner works the best out of all the other ones I tried, it's a clip-on style with a backlight that changes from red to green as you hit the pitch center. Batteries seem to last a long time also.
I use it sometimes to help me practice on my intonation also.

Funny. The Pitch Pocket and the eNote by Eleca that I mentioned earlier look like twins, except for the labelling.

Mine just finally needed a new battery last week, I got it quite a while ago and use it every day.
