Does anyone know where one may find replacement tuner knobs. Something other than metal, also something that does not cost a finger or toe(im a broke college kid).

tuner knobs

... Okay, so when you're saying tuner knobs, do you mean the who tuning machine assy, or just the "paddle" you grab and twist when tuning? If you mean the entire machine... I can't imagine that lasting very long nor being very effective at holding tune.
its called a tuner(machine as hole) knob(part you turn) they are also called tuner buttons. though tuner buttons seem to be more for small guitar tuners that just press on. this is what i have found in my research.

I'm reviving an old thread with the same question. I have an 8 string bass that needs to lose some weight. It has Schaller tuners and there is no lightweight alternative that doesn't require the drilling of new holes in the headstock. Instead, I want to find replacement tuner heads that are either plastic or wood. THG Knobs charges $35 per tuner head, which is more expensive than replacing the entire tuner. Does anyone know of a source for plastic bass tuner machine heads?
