Tuner out - can it be turned off?

Hi, I'm thinking of running a cable from the tuner out of the amp into a Korg Pitchblack Pro rack tuner. Problem is I dont want the tuner on all the time. I especially hate that others can watch the tuber and tell that I'm out of tune when I'm playing. It makes me nervous.
The tuner has a footswitch for the mute function which does not turn off its display. Only kills the output, which I dont use. Turning off the tuner when it's not in use isnt going to work well because I read that theres a slight startup delay time.
So I'm wondering if I can buy a switch that goes inbetween the tuner out and the input of the tuner rack. I can switch that off when I'm not tuning and no signal will go into the tuner rack.
Or do you guy know of any other racks that might have a display that is turned on only when needed?

If you absolutely, positively have to have a rack tuner, you could place an A/B or A/B/Y switch stompbox somewhere in the line between your amp’s tuner out and the tuner input. Of course, that’s more stuff to fuss with, you’d need 2 audio line cables to patch it in, long enough to drape down to the floor so that you can use your foot. Or, just hang a T-shirt down in front of the tuner. But ultimately, nobody who sees the display is going to know or care.

I honestly don't really see enough of an issue to justify convoluting your setup further. My suggestions are either get a pedal tuner, or... play in tune. Or just accept that almost nobody is going to be looking that closely at your rack tuner. You could also just test if there is a startup time delay, and if there is, judge whether it is acceptable to you or not. Frankly, I don't see a problem with a short delay, if only because I tune once at the beginning of the show and that gets me through the night. If you know in advance when you are going to be tuning, that's advantageous to you here.

If any member of your audience is so bored as to be watching the bass player’s tuner, you have far bigger problems than anyone noticing whether you’re in tune or not. That being said, a simple a/b switch can fix your problem.

I must apologize for my last somewhat sarcastic post as I did not think something through. Are you:

1. A fretless player? You’ll always be out a little bit. No biggie.
2. Out of tune (fretted) a lot? Because that’s a solvable problem. A good setup and intonation, possibly better tuners. Newish strings help a lot. But you shouldn’t have to be tuning after every song. Or go out of tune during a song. That’s not normal.

You have never met such a person. Some drunk might think the lights are neat but they won’t know you’re in tune or out of tune.

I’ve got that same tuner and I honestly don’t think anyone would, or has ever, noticed my tuning. The drummer once commented that he thought the moving lights looked cool, but beyond that no one else really cared. I don’t use the rack mounted amp that often but when I do it’s usually in an environment where few people would notice it.

Are you concerned about the audience seeing it. or other band members?
In what little experience I have, bandmates hear when you're out of tune, not see when you're out of tune.

Isn't there a power button one your rack tuner? If so, just turn that on when you need it and turn it off when you don't.

Do you plug the tuner into a surge protector when you do use it? And can you see the display on a bright day outdoors?

Yes I'm just starting to play fretless and am just nervous that the first few rows can actually see when I havent hit the right pitch.
When the music sucks, the tuner gets rewarded with attention Heck of a feature.

Hey Rip! I scored a class D ampeg portaflex 350W head with a beat up 115 cab. It's a start! Now I'm looking for a cheap Furman M10 LXE and a tuner rack. The thing with this particular model is that theres a start up delay of 'a few seconds' according to the manufacturer. I'm just worried about it hanging like my phone or laptop computer.
Anyway, it seems like this particular tuner made by Korg isnt really rack friendly. It has a wall plug DC adapter instead of an IEC socket that i can hook up straight into a Furman.

2. Tuner out to tuner pedal
3. Turn the rack off
4. Cover the rack display
5. Ignore the audience
6. Tune at specific times
7. Setup my bass and improve my technique
8. Join a band with better songs ha ha

This! I use a Korg rack tuner and can say with absolute certainty that one CANNOT tell if I am in tune or not by watching the tuner while I am playing! It isn't fast enough. If I want to tune I have to deliberately tune. If I am playing the tuner is just dancing along to the music. OP - this is a non-issue. If you are still concerned then the AB switch is your answer. If you are out of tune all the time resolve that as a separate and more relevant issue.

Does your rack need to face the audience? Face it sideways or angled on stage where you can see it when needed but (most of) the audience can't.
