Tuning Confusion...

He tunes A-E-A-D-G-B-E but all down an octave so it's in the bass range.

How does he do that? By playing a bass with bass strings and pretending it's a guitar?

A low E on guitar tuned down one full octave would barely be audible and have the tension of a wet noodle. Literally. Unless he was using super heavy gauge guitar strings.

Apparently Meshuggah tunes to F and sometimes does a drop tuning based on that. That's insane. Granted, they're using an 8 string...but still.

Tune normal and kill him with volume. Unless he uses a bass amp, his guitar amp will struggle to reproduce anything except mush.

I can already imagine how bad he sounds.

EDIT: Also, i think it's time to start looking to replace his position in the band with a musician.

Unless "super heavy gauge" means he's using bass strings on his guitar, he's not getting enough tension to avoid wet-noodling.
