Tuning Machine

last night I broke my tuning machine on an Inanez Sound Gear SR480. I need to replace but was thinking I may want to upgrade. Any thoughts on what would be a good up grade or should I just get the factory tuning machines from Ibanez?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I'd go with Gotoh Res-O-Lite GB350 tuners instead. These are meant to be the real upgrades for the standard Ibanez Gotoh GB7 licensed tuning machines that came with your SR480. So, no mod at all is needed to drop them in to Ibanez basses. Some of the Ibanez Prestige basses were already equipped with the GB350 tuners (but some came with GB707 tuners, which are regarded better than the GB7, but not as high grade as the GB350. And IIRC, the GB707 tuners are also standards for the Premium line basses).

The Res-O-Lite GB350 tuners are lighter than Hipshot Ultralite tuners. I use them both on several basses, but mostly the GB350.

Do take notice when buying the USA made Ultralites, they come in 2 sizes of 3/8 and 1/2. You need to choose the 3/8 ones for Ibanez (while the Res-O-Lites only come in one size).
