Tuning peg is cutting the string

Hello talkbass family. So bought an İbanez arc500 electric guitar and changed strings the B string broke from the tuning peg. I tried another one and same happened so i guess the tuning peg have sharp edges and cuts the string. Didn't notice any sharpness when i touch it but it felt a little rusted inside. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this ? I dont want to change the pegs since they are expensive here in Turkey but might consider as a last resort.
Thank you all beforehand

Get a needle file set from the hardware store and smooth any burrs that you can feel on the edges. A set should cost $10-15. Start slow, it shouldn’t take much to smooth any burrs.
