TURNING 50 IN NOVEMBER! AAAAHHHHGGGG!!!!

Man... I roll through 50 in November too. I'm feeling nothing weird or apprehensive about it though. Just... older.

Actually, my biggest complaint is that in my several years of marriage, I've not yet received a gift from my wife that's musically related.

If you have your health, enough money to live, friends and maybe a good wife and kids, count yourself blessed. If you've got all that AND are playing bass, then you're REALLY blessed. :-)
You can't change the past!! Just look forward to all the things you can still do in the years to come.

I'll be 43 in November. In my own personal experience, getting older is more weird than anything. Don't know how else to word it. I don't feel like I'm in my 40's..
Mentally and emotionally I'm still in my late 20's/early 30's, but the clock keeps ticking away... don't know if that's good or bad. Neither I guess.
It's just an odd almost disconcerting thing to feel like one age and be another.
Is this what getting old feels like!???:p
What a bizarre experience.

I'll hit 50 in January. My wife still thinks I act like I'm 17, I look (at least I hear it - maybe they're just being kind :eyebrow:) like I'm 40, I'm in good shape, I enjoy things I couldn't afford 30 years ago, I THINK I'm a bit smarter than I was a couple decades ago, I have three lovely daughters and a wife I've been married to for 24 years and don't begin to deserve, and I'll milk the wife a kids for a kickin' 50th b-day party in a few months. :hyper:

What could be better???

Edit: Oh, and my family lives a LONG time, so I'm likely to be here for a while.

I partied out when I turned 50. At 53 the bell tolled to quit drinking. I'm know 61 and having an absolutely great time. Looking to retiring and going back to playing music all the time.
Read AARP monthly newsletter. Lot's of info on not getting old and not turning into a cranky old man.

Whatever you do ...work on not turning into a cranky old man.:hyper::hyper:

I'll be 50 next October 09. Never been married, no kids (that's not for everyone), have everything else mentioned here, and yes, I do look forward to playing bass for many years to come.

I've got a great supportive wife, maybe not quite the money, but just had a kid start college...., have three wonderfully talented kids, AND I'm playing bass!!!!

I guess all things considered, I'm VERY blessed!

you were still born before heavy metal was invented. That's not an achievement that comes easy. :hyper:

Don't feel bad. I'll turn 58 real soon. It's funny how age works.

When you're a kid, you can't wait to hit 13 so you'll be a teenager.
Then you can't wait to hit 16 so you can drive.
Then you can't wait to hit 21 so you can drink (legally).
Then you can't wait to hit 25 so your car insurance rates will drop. This is the last one that you actually look forward to.

However...
30 didn't bother me.
40 didn't bother me.
50 bothered me. It just sounds so old, even though I still feel young inside.
60 will be brutal... :rollno:
