Tweeter on my eden

based on what i have presented....does it seem to be the tweeter? i figure if it was the power amp....there would be a sound coming from all of the speakers and not just the tweeter.

This goes to the basics of what happens when a signal is clipped: there is a major increase in the levels of midrange and high frequency harmonics. When a signal clips the first place you hear it is from tweeters, irrespective of the fundamental. You can actually use a tweeter as a rudimentary clipping detector. Clipping can only be heard in woofers when it's severe.

I wonder whether the capacitor(s) in the crossover could be the culprit. I would think that they would be more likely to fail gradually than would the tweeter.

To the OP. I toured with one of these cabs for 3 years. One thing they were never meant to be was an extreme low end producing cab. I believe the specs on this cab rated it down to 80 HZ. From what I've read so far, you really haven't been helping out the cab with the heavy lows you've been running through it. Just IME and IMO of course.

okay so it sounds like maybe i should try to figure out more things to trouble shoot the tweater. how do you figure out if the crossover is messed up?
i guess in the long run, if its the tweeter i will replace it, and maybe try to trade this for a bigger 4x10 maybe. im thinking of looking into a eden 410xlt. i really like the eden sound, so i know i want that.

i turned the tweeter pad all the way down.....and the sound has not gone away. and as i turn the volume up past 9 oclcok it starts to crackle really bad....seems to be coming from the top left woofer....but its hard to direct the sound.
