Twin EB-0's

So, previous builds are in a phase that I'll start next ones next week, or so.
Both will be for my kids, two basses because there are lefties in the family :P
Specs:
-Both will have bodies made out of alder
-Necks: Righty will have a set neck of laminated maple with black maple veneers, fretboard will probably be bocote, MOP dot inlays, and neck angle. Lefty will have a bolt on lam neck of iroko, maple and zebrano, purple heart fret board and red dot inlays. Both will have an angled head stock.
-Lefty will have chrome parts, the bridge will be fenderish. Righty will have gold parts, a two piece TOM bridge (hence the angle of the neck).
-Both will have neck humbuckers.
-Righty's pick guard will be modeled after SG's PG.
-Righty will be trans blue, lefty trans red.

Will be posting randomly some stuff. As ther's no DL I'll probably finish them before next summer.

Mmmm, SGs, yummy!

Why the differences in construction between the two?
There are a few reasons: The righty is an instrument I too can use. Lefty will be for a 6 year old and hopefully later for a 2 year old (still not 100% sure he will be a lefty). Initially, the righty was going to be a bolt on, non angled neck, but later I thought, why not? And I changed the design :) Also, there are some small design features my 7 year old has decided, like the SG pickguard on an EB-0 and gold plated parts (on the righty). Neck woods are different because I had a pre glued neck blank just waiting to be used and the other I made from scraps :p I'm probably going to put an alder plate on both headstocks and dye them both to match the body color.

Sorry for not updating this! I've been trying to finish two other almost done builds so not much done with these. Headstocks have been sawn off and glued to angle and next will be installing trussrods. I'm quite hesitant on finishing: I'm going to leave lefty's neck natural from the back, but will make headstock face match body colour. The question is, transparent tint or paint? I'm still thinking red for the lefty and blue for the righty but as alder is nothing too flashy in what comes to the grain, some nice automotive paint could be tempting. Also, not goint to use the bocote fingerboard on the righty, as it's too flamboyant. Would be silly to pair it with plain maple and alder...

Have you checked Gibson's '60's custom color chart? Some nice colors there.
Or consult your kids. You might be surprised. But stay away from pink; it's a phase. My daughter,12 now, was all into pink until last week she asked me to repaint her pink Squier Mini strat into black...

:D Luckily none of my boys are into pink :P Oldest kid insists in a see through blue tint. I'll respect that. But the lefty will surely be something more "interesting" :P

I don't think red and purple would look good together. Silver, grey, or white would probably be good.
I'm thinking the same. Should try to make a mockup. Maybe a pearly white? :P
Purpleheart only stays purple for a short time. Soon it will turn brown(ish).
I'm aware of that. Though, everything depends on circumstances. For example, here in central Finland the amount of UV we get is considerably lower than, say, in California :P

Aaand here they are:
