Two 2x10 or one 4x10?

Idk, I have a 410 and a 210.

Two woofers on the floor will give better floor coupling, that's the reason for beefier bass response. But the side by side drivers will comb and produce beaming in the frequencies about 500Hz or so, making for poor/uneven dispersion of the mids. There are a couple recent threads going on about .5 aligning a 410 cab

:) I had hoped I'd made it clear that I understood the physics. This has been discussed since the earth cooled. :)

I was making the point that just as you all don't need more than a 2x10 because of PA why would these dispersion issues matter.

As much as science is science and I love it, if I've been getting great sound that the dancing honeys like....That sounds great in the room....I do go out and dance with the honeys.....We keep getting called back.....Then?

That was my choice. I no longer use either. I did say YMMV. :)

I actually have been contemplating switching the 410 to a 210. although I like the sound of the 410. I suppose if I didnt have band mates that helped me I might. I can lift the 410, but it is a pain. My guitarist in one of my projects bitches about it every time. I kind of enjoy making him suffer for it.

For flexibility, I have (Hartke) 210XL, 2.5XL and a 115 Hydrive.

I use them in 4 configurations:

Small room - 2.5XL

Medium room - 2.5XL and 210XL

Big room (with PA support) - 115 Hydrive and 210XL

Big room (no PA support) - 115 Hydrive and 2.5XL.

I have options that work great, and the 2.5 and 210 sound great together (the 2.5 being vented really supports the low end).

Two 2x10's win due to flexibility, prefer to vertical stack them.
With a convertible handtruck, you can roll everything in with 1 trip(cabs + rack).
Had to not vertical stack last week at one venue:

But usually vertical stack if these guys are going. The rig below was used "just because" at the venue shown(FOH provided) and at another that had no FOH:
