Two blend pots?

I've ended up with a simple (to me) control setup:
Two ungrounded MN blends and a 1M passive tone pot.
  • Blend A pans between the neck pickup and the output of Blend B
  • Blend B pans between the middle and bridge pickups
That might sound confusing, but it's incredibly intuitive to how I use this bass.

I used alligator clips to temporarily connect each blend pot to ground, then tested all different combinations (both grounded, neither grounded, blend A grounded but not B, blend B grounded but not A).
Grounding the blends allowed for a more complete separation of the pickups, but at the cost of lots of bite and character.

I snipped the blend pot ground wires and called it done.
