Two identical basses (stupid -?-)

I don't see any reason to have two identical basses, but that's just me.

Unless it's to DESTROY one of them on stage!

FWIW, I have (4) more-or-less identical 5-string fretted basses
(2 Basslines SMB-5A pups, Carvin tuners, Hipshot drop-tuner and Type-B bridge, Carvin BN5 neck - 34" scale)
and (2) identical 5-string fretless basses
(Basslines SMB-5A pup, Carvin tuners, Hipshot drop-tuner and Type-B bridge, Carvin BN5 neck - 34" scale)

2 of the fretted basses and 1 of the fretless basses stays in Mexico City in the bands' storage room . . . . . .

EDIT the 2 fretted basses that stay in Mexico City also have Ellio Martina Blk 5-string Bass Mutes

I wouldn't do it myself, but I wouldn't call it stupid. There's nothing bad about having more than one bass.

A person only can play ONE Bass at a time, so why the hell would you want 2?

Different tunings - Why waste time retuning while on stage

Different amounts of strings - there are basses that come in 4, 5,6,,8,10,12 strings. Depends on your preference

Break a string - don't wanna kill 20 minutes retuning, playing a song, and retuning a virgin string again - Don't say it won't happen, I had it happen Live.

Feel - Sometimes you want something light and smooth, other times you wanna bring out the "axe wife".

Variety is more important to me but I also know what I like enough that some features or traits of the bass I would keep similar. Or maybe it's I know what I don't like enough to keep me from having useless variety.

I own 1 bass but I love it and am seriously thinking of buying another one in a different color. As a matter of fact it comes in 3 colors and I wouldnt mind having all 3 colors.

Personally, I can't imagine ever needing more than one bass (my Precision).

Except for a travel bass that fits in an overhead compartment, but that's only for holidays and other traveling adventures.

I definitely dont need more than one bass, I just started playing at 49 years old , this bass will last me the rest of my life but I like the other colors it comes in .

I can dig that sentiment. I think it's great if you can find a bass to get married to and never need another. I know ultimately I'd be better off if I stuck to one. But now that I have a bunch, I enjoy it.

Jimmy if I were playing for a while and I was younger I know I would own a ton of basses . I was lucky to end up with a bass that I love and right now have no desire to even try anything else. I love the sound I can get out of my bass, its very comfortable and I find myself sitting here with it for hours. If I do make another purchase most likely it will be another Marcus Sig only in the natural color .
