Apologies if this has been covered before - I did look:ninja:

What do you do if you play more than one bass but only have one amp? My amp only has one input and I don't really fancy swapping cables during a set. I'm wondering whether there's such a thing as a two-into-one foot-switch where you can tap it to select the bass you want to play.

I use 2 basses regularly but don’t want 2 cables trailing across the stage all the time. I’m happy to unplug when required but I do have the problem where one bass has a higher output than the other. I use a MXR M-80 so I simply adjust the volume on that and have both basses set to full volume. It would be useful to have some kind of pad switch which I could preset so that both basses have the same volume.

Trouble with a simple AB box with volume pot is that you muck up the impedance that the bass sees everytime you move the volume pot. Far better to have a buffer first, then a volume stage. So, for my money, you can have either true bypass or a way of matching volumes, not both.

Personally, true bypass has it's merits but it's not ALWAYS the silver bullet. Both approaches have their benefits and pitfalls, just automatically going for true bypass every time isn't the best solution. So, that's why I would recommend something like the BassBone in this case. I went for the EBS MicroBass II but I understand that brand is not common in the US.

trade in your m80 for a tech 21 programmable bddi. you'll have two preset volumes you could use. just put a tuner with a mute switch in your chain so you can quietly switch basses.

I've just received my AB100 today so I haven't tried it in earnest yet. The unit doesn't appear to affect the tone. The spec claims the inputs are 500K, so I would assume they don't vary with volume setting. There was one misunderstanding on my part though. The two volume controls are for the outputs in bass-into-two-amps mode. In two-basses-into-one-amp mode you only get one volume control. Still, should do the job I want it for, and only cost £13!
