I played a gig with this bass. Someone asked me if it was USA. I suggested that is was probably foreign parts... Was I wrong
I've often wondered the same too, whether peavey had the parts manufactured elsewhere and assembled them in the USA that way could claim it was made in the USA. Schecter do a similar thing now but are up front about it.
I'm willing to be proved wrong on this if anybody has evidence to the contrary I'd love to know.
Naw, about 50/50.
None of the hardware was USA nor the electronics. Pre-finished bodies started getting imported 1995.
They never claimed "Made in USA", they used "Crafted in USA". The former had legal conditions attached to it's use, latter is just a meaningless term

Agree....the Koa Unity's always bother me. They all have that mismatch and for that reason I wonder if Peavey did it on purpose. Or was Koa so rare that they just used all the pieces? But it's always bugged me how bad they really are.
Good point, makes me think the mismatch on the Unity's is probably by design. Don't think I've ever seen a matched one.
I'd say it was collateral damage from using up all the pieces. Koa is very expensive due to it's low supply.

I personally do not care for the TL6. The second generation TL5 is a fantastic bass IMO but the bridge and PU's used in the TL6 are not to my liking.
The Axcellerator 6 is a fantastic 6 for little money if you can find one. It is 35" scale, has an ABM bridge and really good electronics. Of course the Cirrus 6 is also wonderful.
Chuck.. I thought the tl6 was a better feeling design. The kahler bridge does take time to learn (not one to buy with missing parts)
When it comes to extended range.. my peavey pals will cringe ..... If you can bear the t40ish weight, a Conklin gt7 or bdgt7 is a solid bass... It can achieve clarity no other 7 string (or extended range) can... Insanely solid. I've had one in my trunk 24x7x365x15... (Yes 15 years)... I've dropped it at least 100x.... It goes from -25 to 150 degrees and neck never moves.
We are all entitled to our opinion. I think that Kahler is extremely ugly and will not own one. My favorite bridge is the ABM and some folks hate that one. LOL It is all okay.
The original poster asked for opinions about the TL6. I gave mine.
I have owned several generation 2 TL5's. They were all nice but one was killer. It had something in the way the neck was shaped and it set up with low action. The electronics in that one were fantastic sounding and.....it was factory equipped with an ABM bridge.
