U.S. Peavey Club

Bought an Axcelerator 5 from GC's used site, got it today...and sadly, the truss nut is completely stripped. I love GC's completely risk-free return policy, but just a bummer about the bass, due to it not having any neck dive whatsoever.

Was that the silver one? I watched it for a while, then it was gone and then it came back so I thought it might have a problem. It looked really nice. Sorry for your problem but at least you can return it.

Sensible decision.

Less debt = breathing space while planning your next move. Hopefully you'll soon find something both personally and financially fulfilling, be plenty basses waiting for you then :)

Luckily, had enough in savings and with band money to keep me going for a month or so.

Made arrangements to pick up this bad boy on Thursday. Scroll back in this thread, you can probably find a dozen separate posts of me pining for a Forum AX. So, so, so stoked to finally get one, and in beautiful sunburst to boot! Wasn’t a steal or anything but it seems these come up so rarely, let alone local to me, that I’m not gonna balk at a more than reasonable price.

An Oly White Forum AX 5'er has been on eBay over here for months.

I laugh out loud every time it and it's £999.99 BIN price appear in alerts  I laugh even louder at the £100k this seller wants for 8 planks from a stage The Beatles played on :jawdrop:

Looks like a nice one. It's good that you're able to test drive it first. I had those on my radar for a few years, finally found a minty LPB one at MGR...ski jump neck, returned it. Then I found a sunburst one at GC online...ski jump neck again and mucho undisclosed wear (shocking, right?), returned it.

But while they were here I got to sample their sounds. I thought they sounded really nice for my tastes, but was a little surprised by how much different they sounded compared to the single pickup Forum model.

The two bad AX necks kinda put me off of the AX hunt. Maybe someday I'll fall into a good one like you seem to have found! Cheers.

Saw that one myself and thought of you LOL!!! I sure can't afford it at the moment. Nice score!

Got my new toy last night, got to give it a clean and setup this morning. The truss rod nut is pretty poorly aligned with the access hole, so I had to use a 4mm hex wrench with a slight kink at the end to get a good fit. The neck had way too much relief in it when I got it, but thankfully I’ve been able to get it where I like it. The 9th fret was slightly high on the bass side so I leveled and crowned it, and polished all the frets up. The verdict is that it’s super solid, and I *think* it’s lighter than my old black forum. I can’t wait to take it to band practice. I’ve been using a Schecter Stiletto Elite for jamming lately, but this could easily fill that role. I remember really liking this preamp in my axccelerator 2-t, so I’m really excited to give this bass a workout. Really seems like a workhorse instrument. And only $245! :D
