I want to change my Ibanez btb 5 strings, and somebody is offering me a Peavey T40, I want to know how it works for you guys, I just love the way it looks, I know that that thing is heavy, what can you tell me about it?, the sound, playability, etc.

I really want to join this club so I'll copy the post I had that was overlooked in the other Peavey thread, hope you all don't mind! All advice is welcome and encouraged!

What are the key differences cosmetic differences between the USA model and the bxp.

The tone is very hip- remember Ross Valory's line in "Stone in Love"? That was a Peavey T-40. Great bass- the tone is not only in the pickups, but the dang mass of that tank! And it plays like a Peavey, which means it has a very positive feel and a lively response.

Get it, you won't be sorry you did.

Cirrus 5 Bubinga. It's not a Ken Smith....BUT IT SURE SOUNDS LIKE ONE-ALMOST!!!!! BEST BASS I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!! Considering that I am also blessed to have a Warwick Thumb 5 BO and an Alembic Spoiler 4, that's says a lot!!!

Thanks Kev, for the heads-up about a club that will have me as a member! ... I have a Peavey Dyna-Bass Unity, Midnight Blue. It's a 1989, already somewhat modded- by me of course, as that's what I do! But I love this bass, and have just recently found this out. I have it strung B-E-A-D, and it's a sweetie.

It's got a Maple neck, Ebony fingerboard, Poplar body wings, and black hardware. The tone is dark, with a nice growly bark when I set the on-board thing just so. Feels great to play- it's more slinky and has lower string tension than my Schecter Stiletto Elite-4. A few pix- not great, but it's the bass:

Your link doesn't load, but I played a BXP the other day... I'd rather go with a nice Foundation, frankly. If I were to get a Cirrus, I'd go for a better model than that one. The BXP seems top me like getting an Alembic "Persuader"- the lowest-end Alembic: The BXP's a Cirrus in name only, in my opinion!

There are lots of very nice Peaveys, including the TL-5, TL-6, and the Sarzo line, all of which are discontinued, but very nice axes. But if you want a Cirrus, hold out for a very cool, up-scale model. My .02, For what it's worth.
