Thanks. I just bought the red bass from GC online. It came UPS just before I posted. The top elephant ear is loose probably from bad packaging. The body was packed great, but the head only had a little packaging. It probably bounced around in the box. And the box was fairly "flattened" out.

So I need a replacement or a fix. It is about to fall off like this picture I found online. (Picture below is not my bass) I called the store that shipped it and the manager said to take it to my local GC. After I show them she will reimburse me something to make it worth my while. I don't want to return it because I really like how it plays, sounds, and the intonation/action is great.

Grover machine heads is what they have, yes? Can I have someone weld or solder it? The machine head is fine, the elephant ear is just loose.

A drop of super glue will fix it if it isn't too far gone. I repaired a couple of loose ones this way about 3 years ago and they haven't loosened up again.

Best look into a repair, those tuners are great but all but impossible to find used. Never seen any for sale, and never seen them on any bass other than the 80's Peaveys. I think they may have been made by Schaller.

The issue is measuring your base plate and shaft

Random update...been a while with my '94 Forum now and I've seen a lot of basses come and go and I've tried a lot more out in the stores. Verdict...I am down to one bass, never parting with it...and it is the Forum. Good 'ol American craftsmanship indeed.

I'd take them over Titans any day. Not to be confused with the low quality tuners found on a 90's Fury for example, which look similar but are crude by comparison.

Somebody had to make those machines for Peavey. Schaller is a likely candidate, as they were prominent in the 80's, and made tuners for many guitar manufacturers.

I'd be very surprised if Allparts carries this exact tuner nowadays (if only it were that easy). Although, I'm sure a decent quality substitute can be found there, or elsewhere. Still, it would be nice to know the manufacturer and the model #.

Commodity = generic ish interchangeable..... I be gotten them off eBay (new) and at all parts

The vendors needed baseplate measurements and shaft diameter - it's a fender retrofit

I may have posted part numbers etc about 18 months ago - I remember posting the eBay seller
