Cool, I hope it goes well for you. I gigged my '84 Fury on the weekend an she performed well. I usually have one tuned down half step and one standard tuning. The Fury was the std tuning one and used it on 5 songs. Lots of tips on the Band Management forum for young bands. Best tip I have for a new band is practice your set like the audience is standing in front of you...like you are actually doing it. Roll through the whole set and work out everything that you will do between songs. The time between songs is just as important as the songs themselves.

mech, StuartV, thank you for your input guys! The funny thing is, TL5s and TL6s are pretty rare and costly in our country, going in the $800+ range. That's one more thing keeping me from defretting it, as I own an almost exclusive bass and really dig its sound and feel. So yeah, I guess I'll leave it as it is and settle on some cheaper MIJ 4-string (there are plenty running around).

No LT 5 fretless that I know of, I've been looking and was told there were non.
I have done a bit of research and a good Luthier can replace the finger board with a fretless ebony board for $250 - 400.
As soon as I catch up on my bills (out of work for 4 months) several of my de fret jobs will be replaced with plain ebony boards.

The songs themselves are tight (we only have five). We've discussed things to do in between songs to blow some time. I think my guitarist and drummer are going to do a quick 30 second jam of a Megadeth song during one break, which is completely different from the music we're playing (pretty guitars emo post punk or whatever the heck you'd wanna call it) and I'm going to let my fuzz pedal sustain ring out for an obnoxious period of 20 seconds or so on another and our singer is going to banter some. That said, we haven't at all figured out how we're going to position ourselves. It has occurred to me... I suppose we need to discuss that?

Get a friend to video you so check your positions. 2 tall fellas on either side of a short guy will make him look even shorter.
How everything looks is just as important as how you sound. It's a SHOW,everything counts.
Depending on what image you want to present little props can help.
With all this going on it's a good thing you're playing a Peavey. One thing less to worry about as you'll sound GREAT

Even better... our drummer knows a lot of other bands in the local scene and he believes he may have a proper practice space we can borrow for our last practice before the show. It turns out we won't be mic'd up, so we need to bring our full rigs and refine our levels and can also have more room to position properly.

Don't talk to much between songs. People will remember the songs not what you said in between them. People don't want to hear the talking, seriously, they want to hear music. So keep it to a minimum. Suggest do the first two back to back without saying anything. We always do this.
That's exactly the plan (for the first two songs). They're bangers. We want to get people a little riled on the music first.

Another Peavey, this time a Dyna. Bolt neck, VFL pups,clean, very easy to play. However...... no matter the position of the dip switches, the active sound is much thinner and quieter than the passive sound. Battery reads 9.31, so that should not be the problem. The passive sound is friggin great!
Any suggestions on the quiet active issue?

Hey guys, first time on the peavey site here, I have two. First is my Sarzo bass, second is mt TL-5.
I'm pretty new to talk bass and I'm doing some research in an attempt to fix or replace my rig. I'm a quite the peavey fan so I'm hoping this is the right place.
I currently own a T-max 550 and its poopie the bed. local amp tecs have estimated over 100 down for the wild goose chase to figure out the issue.
Prior to the death of my t-max I was considering selling her to switch out for I higher powered peavey white face amp or a max preamp and a quality poweramp.
I would really appreciate any suggestion for you more experienced ladies and fellas and feel free to send my packing if I'm in the wrong place

Posting for kicks, it's a Fury/T-20 Frankenmonster 5 string conversion that has me strangely intrigued. On our local Facebook gear page, someone pointed out that the unmodified T-20 neck was probably worth more than what he's asking, which the seller acknowledged that he'd probably made a mistake, but he wanted to test the concept and used what he had, and"what's done is done."

Here's the pics. I'd say $225 is a stretch to be honest. Would probably be the tightest string spacing on a 5er ever.
