OK, here we go again.
Another Peavey, this time a Dyna. Bolt neck, VFL pups,clean, very easy to play. However...... no matter the position of the dip switches, the active sound is much thinner and quieter than the passive sound. Battery reads 9.31, so that should not be the problem. The passive sound is friggin great!
Any suggestions on the quiet active issue?

Anyone have some nice, clear photos of a 1980s and/or 1990s Peavey Foundation control cavity that is stock? Mine is a bit molested, and am curious what came from the factory. I've got eh schematics, but am curious about orientations of wires & pots.

Yeah I happen to have some. Stock cavities of a couple '83's.

Guys, I found an early SF Foundation yesterday. Excellent condition and unmolested at $225, could probly talk him down to $200.
It's black with the rosewood fretboard. Pretty! First time I played one and just blown away by the tone.

Two questions...
1. Should I buy it?
2. How do I hide it from my wife?

A1: Yes.
A2: You put it on a stand in the middle of your music room. I've had my Dyna Unity on a stand since I bought it last November. She didn't even notice it until last weekend. The Kramer Duke bass I bought in December has also been on a stand, but off to one side by my keyboard. She never noticed that one either until she noticed the Peavey. I was 100% accurate in saying, "I don't know why you haven't noticed them. They've been there since last year." <shrug>

I just picked up this '85 Foundation from GC,included the original case as well for the sick price of $99.99.It has been played hard for sure but after a few tweaks on the set-up and some settle time it feels and sounds great.One thing I can't figure out is the wear on the neck pup cover.Either the action was set too low or the pup was too high for a long time.Personally I could not play something that clacked against the pick up for that long.

Nice g. I think its the combination of a high PUP plus a pick player.

Thanks Runnerman,I didn't think about the pick aspect being part of it because I don't use one very often.The wear on the back of the neck makes me think they played in the 3rd and 5th position a lot!

Sounds like a fair deal to me. Especially for an early one that has all the little accoutrements that separate the early ones from the later ones.

An included OEM bomb-proof case would be a bonus. A bomb-proof case with felt lining would be an even bigger bonus.

A matching black headstock would add a couple points, too. Original knobs, either the cool cast metal "P" knobs or the black plastic ice cubes, and the truss rod cover all add points, as well.

Here's a schematic for the T-45. Please note that the 250K S-taper tone pot was a custom taper and is not available. The circuit will work with a 250K Audio or Linear taper but will not have the tone change as smoothly as designed.
