Nice bass. If painted body is maple. If satin clear finish it is southern ash. Good year, still has the 2 piece neck I believe.

Is a "Unity Series" bass (like my '91 Koa P/J) considered part of the Dyna family?

Hard to get answers around here sometimes. But, what I've heard is that the exposed blade pickups are brighter, toaster (no exposed blades) are darker. Also, the blade pickups are the later design... improved maybe?? I would think so. I prefer brighter, and from pics I've seen, the blades seem to be built better IMO. Just compare pics of the undersides.

As for everything else... I think the electronics are the same. Have I heard that earlier T-40s have slab bodies (no or little contours)?? I seem to recall that. I also think the earlier ones are heavier. My white one is under 10.5 pounds while some early ones can weigh 12 plus.

Some more info to add to the mix....these are identified by seller as 70's T-40 pups....so these would be considered "toaster"

From a terminology perspective I had also referred to these as toasters in the past....just a toaster with pieces of toast in there :)
I assume these would be the same PUP's as the bass version??? Maybe a hotter wind for guitar???

Generally the distinction people make is the "Toaster" pickups are the ones that had the blades covered with black rubber of some kind that were used on the first T-40s, and the Blade pickups are the ones with blades exposed that started in the early 80s. I have never had one of each to compare, but in the early pages of the club there was much discussion, supposedly the Blades had a little more top end, but from teh discussion it didn't seem like it was a significant difference.
