The black and white Fury was the first, and it found me while I was in Green Bay for a gig. It was $125 and played like butta. And I loved the tone and 7.8 pound weight. I'm not even sure what year it is because the serial number is #094xxxx, the chart doesn't seem to go that high, so 1995 or later I guess?! The pickguard is just a little warped in one spot by 1/4 jack but I don't even mind that very much because I just love its tone and the way it plays. Maybe I'll upgrade the pickguard at some point.
Next came the sunburst Fury, a 1988 model in excellent condition with the original case for $300 plus shipping from Eugene, OR. It quickly became my #1 gigging bass.
And this week I took delivery on a 1987 sunburst Foundation in mint condition with original case, shipped to me from Florence, Alabama for $400. I'm not sure this bass had ever been played, it still has the plastic on the back cover, the truss rod nut looked virtually untouched, and I can't even find a ding on the neck or body. Just got home from a rehearsal with the band and I can't stop smiling. You guys weren't kidding about those SF pickups.

Hmmm... the Q filter may be worth trying. A pair in series would be 6 henrys. Not sure about a $50 tone control, but may be worth it.

Similar to my current peavey collection, 2 furies and a foundation. I'm envious of that foundation, I still have never owned an SF equipped bass.
Aside from the 94 fury I owned from about 96-99 (typical regret, I didn't recognize it back then, peavey was "cheap" here in fender/swr land in the 90s), my first "post awareness"/USA peavey was a steal on a late 90s/y2k (ser#1008****) foundation with VFL pickups and what turned out to be a maple body, very heavy, but a solid and snappy bright and thick tone.
My furies are 1993 with similar wear to a well used 60s-70s fender, the neck is a true relic, but a definite player. The other one is a 1991 with the pinstripe headstock titan tuners and the 5 wire pickup. This one cost the most of the 3, and ironically I had to drill out the neckbolt holes to get the neck alignment closer, the geometry on this one is a tad off, but only enough to bother my OCD, not perfectly centered. These things did slip through peavey QC sometimes. Still a great bass, cost $140 without a case.
I like the 2pc necks better than the later 1pc necks.
Have you noticed much difference between the pinstripe fury pickup and the post 95? Generally the pinstripes have lower output, but a really clear tone. I don't plan on replacing the pickups in any of these basses.

I want that neck! It appears to be a 1994 neck, but I have seen SF foundations with post 95 one piece necks too. Were VFLs offered as an option when SF versions were still being made? Or is this "parts bass" territory? Either way I would stick that neck on my late 90s foundy in a heartbeat, and later restore that body to working order and perhaps sell it later with my one piece neck.
If this goes under $50 I might poke a bid at it, especially if they are willing to do store pickup at a goodwill in my area. Not sure they offer something like that.
If the body was maple I would probably keep it too. But surely someone is going to be willing to pay more. And the condition of the neck is a crap shoot
