The redwood top Cirrus are typically built with an Alder body. I have not seen one with solid body wings.

That's why it was so unusual. It might even have had an ebony fingerboard but not sure. Definitely was a custom shop and had solid redwood body wings though.
Can't go wrong with super ferrite pickups. Just make sure the necks are good ones, and that you're not losing anything in the trade. Peaveys tend not to have the best resale value
Just picked up a T-40. 10.5lbs seems like a good weight for that model. Think I got lucky.

Even better! Sounds and plays very well. I'm a little surprised how well it plays. Needs a bit of fret work but that's an easy task. Plenty of fret material left.

Sounds good here. I don't know what Jazzes you have, but even at the going rate of $300-ish for a Foundation, you may only have to sell one Jazz to buy both Foundations. 
My Jazz basses have seen notably less action since getting the Foundation (strung with flats) and Dyna Bass (strung with round wounds BEAD). I love Super Ferrites a lot, even thought about putting Super Ferrites in a Jazz bass, but nixed the idea since it's virtually more cost effective time saving to just buy another Foundation.
Gotta say that the Foundation is pretty much a 70s J bass as far as pickup location is concerned. Geddy all day. My 72 Jazz pickups are centered at 27 7/8" and 31 7/8" from the nut, the Foundation is at 28" and 32".
Speaking of Geddy, I picked up a Patriot and just did all the drilling, routing and cutting to install another Super Ferrite in the neck position of my Patriot as well as a 3-way switch and moved the jack to the side. Sounds like a Ric (or close enough for RnR)!

Man, this really makes me miss my Patriot. I picked one up for next to nothing, and sold it quickly for a small(ish) profit. I didn't even hang on to it long enough to realize how awesome (and light) it was! FWIW, I no longer own any of the gear in this photo (actually I still have the stand, strap, and cable) ... I have a serious GAS problem.

- If it's a Scorpion or Blackwidow you can change the "baskets" (business end of the speaker)
- You can change the ohms by changing baskets
- Commonly (by now) foam parts will degrade - this will make them sound distorted.
- Peavey Tech support is quick of knowing which current basket will retrofit to prior widows.

I kinda fell off being a Peavey-phile for some time, but have always had a soft spot for the number of fantastic basses I've owned over the years. After some reminiscing, I realized just how much I loved and missed the Millenniums I've had, so I've been on the lookout for just the right one. This popped up on the GC used site, late last week. No pic at first, but, based on the price and description, I had a good feeling it was what I was looking for. Once the pic appeared, I bought it as fast as I could. I waited all weekend for a shipping notification, but that didn't come until a few minutes ago. So I guess it's official now! I had another one just like this, and have missed it terribly. I plan on keeping this one as long as possible!!
The Patriot flew under the radar for me for a long time. I kind of overlooked it as mostly a simple, entry level type bass. It wasn't until I had one in my hands that I realized just how great it feels and plays and most importantly, where that bridge PU was located. If you adjust for 34" scale on a Ric 4001/3, the Patriot PU is a mere 1/4" more towards the neck vs a Ric bridge PU. That's not a big difference in the grand scheme of tone, but a Patriot is waaaay more comfortable for me to play and waaaay less $$ vs most every 4001 or 4003 I have tried. It then became my goal to make a Ric tone clone out of a Patriot. It is a success.

Seriously though, that's a great mod that you've done, and the fact that it gets you close (enough) to the tone you're after is awesome. That neck pickup certainly looks like it belongs! Well done!

A stock Patriot is a virtual Rickenbacker 4000. The primary difference is that you can get a Patriot for what you would spend on the sales tax of a 4000 from a vintage guitar shop.
For the cease and desist... the ghost of Roger Rossmeisl showed up with his team of lawyers in my sleep last night. They let it go since Hartley Peavey already argued that it's a Patriot platform and not a blatant copy. @BassikLee, however, may get spooked and muscled more by this same team with his Ric copy.
The neck pickup really does fill that space like it's been there since the inception of the instrument. Makes me wonder if perhaps it was a consideration by Peavey, but in the spirit of keeping the model more affordable and simple, they left it out. Gotta say that just moving the jack to the side will do wonders for pickguard life. Seems most Patriots, mine included, have cracked pick guards near the jack.
Ebay. Got two. One that works great and another that I got for $8 because the seller wasn't sure it worked properly. It doesn't, it has a break in the coil or something, as it reads around 160K on the meter and sounds anemic. I bought it to use as a measuring tool and template maker for the routs and cuts and to have the extra Foundation/Dyna mounting ring with all 6 screws and 2 springs as spares. I thinned that mounting ring on the belt sander and put it in the bridge position and used the extra thin factory Patriot ring for the neck position.
