I have a Foundation 5 that I paid $199 for. It came to me almost unplayable but after I adjusted EVERYTHING it plays wonderful. It is light weight, has a fast feeling neck and sounds great.

MNAirHead, are you loosening the strings before you tighten the truss?

Also, some necks need help. I've had a few basses that I've had to manually force into a backbow, with the truss nut loosened. Then, I tighten the truss, still keeping the neck in a backbow the whole time, and tune up the strings. This has always worked for me, and was a tip I received from a pro builder. I like a nearly flat neck or near zero relief.

Let us know if you try the forced backbow while tightening the truss trick. It's hard to do alone, but I've managed by putting the neck across my knee, bracing the body and pushing down on the headstock.

Yea, it's great to be a little less busy... the house fire and family stuff is under control.. back working... gig schedule is predictable etc...

This StewMac one has a tapered rear end, it might get into your bass better than the AllParts tool.

If I remeber right, the StewMac one is longer than the AllParts tool.
Is there a lot of thread on the rod sticking out past the nut, meaning..is the nut turned all the way to the bottom of the threaded section of the rod?
