this may be the reason I like this active bass... I generally prefer passive---when I flip over there isn't any volume difference--it just changes the tone a tad brighter--then I can adjust with the knobs--still sounds passive ish/open and airy like I like

If it has this PCB, nothing in the wiring can keep the passive high from working. Re-solder the joints on the high control and it's cap. Possible but very unlikely the cap has failed. Second pic is the wiring.
While we're on the subject, I have a bunch of basses with this preamp. Over the years the only PCB problems I've seen are with the 25 year old solder joints on the pots becoming open or noisy and those have been few. Here's the ones to re-solder if you have a problem. The PCB doesn't have to be removed.
I have a Cirrus 5 coming in and would really like to move this cool G bass. I love it but miss that B string. If anyone here is interested PM me and I will make you a good deal.

Yes Dyna Bass circuit that functions in Active mode but in passive no tone rolloff. Bass sounds clean crisp and massive and I never wanted it corrected. Compared to other Dyna 5 basses and as the Marines say this one is mine. I remember the first big sound check with this bad mofo, tripped the limiters on all the subs, it went from massive grooving rumble to complete silence and everyone was scared and pissed that I had blown up the PA.

That said, I am doing two Christmas programs this year at two different churches. I am playing a Cirrus 6 for one and a Fender P bass for the other because of the material involved. I own the Fender P and a gorgeous Millennium Plus 4 so the G bass needs a new home.

If anyone wants more passive rolloff, tack a .010 or .022uF across the tone cap position shown in the picture to increase the value. I personally think the .022uF is a little light.
I was practicing for one of the upcoming Christmas presentations this morning. I was playing my Fender Player Precision strung with La Bella flats and it sounded really good and appropriate for the music. My Millennium plus 4 J/J has the same strings on it and I decided to see how it sounded. Oh my goodness! Not only does it sound way better than the Fender it plays and feels so much better.
I acquired the Millennium from a guy who bought it as new old stock from a dealer who had it in stock for a long time but since the bass is like new it must have been in the case and not on display. So this guy buys it and decides it is not for him and I made a stupid low offer which he accepted. I got the bass and it sounded terrible. No really....it sounded terrible. The strings were the original Peavey strings with black wrapped ends and I think they were stainless. I was just going to flip the bass but decided to put a set of La Bell flats on it and that was just the ticket. It was those original strings that sounded so bad.
I wonder how many Peavey basses were not purchased because of those strings. I remember trying some Cirrus and Millennium basses when they came out and did not like them. Now I love them but have D'Adarrio XL's on my Cirrus basses and La Bella flats on the Millennium and all those basses sound fantastic.
I know I am preaching to the choir but can't help myself.

We're a harmonius little choir...it's so nice when you find *just the strings* for a particular bass. I just took the TI flats off my early-VFL Foundation 5 and replaced them with DR Pure Blues and they're magic! The bass sounds wicked with those strings...
Well I'm now down to owning 1 Peavey Foundation bass. I have sold my 1992 Foundation (at a small loss) the neck had a slight twist and the gentleman I sold, it to had a replacement Fury neck for it so hope he gets more of a use for it.
Still have my '86 Foundation and as I've said before I preferred Peavey basses from the 80's more, as I believe their body & headstock shape was Peavey's best IMO & I really do like the look and sound of the Super Ferrite pickups.
The only picture I had of both of them together, even changed my signature list here as well.

I really like your black/black headstock and rosewood Foundation. I guess that would technically be a Foundation Custom? I had an 85 fretless one that was identical. A very sharp look.
I snagged a lefty Foundation (black/RW w/ matching black headstock) a few months back. Haven't said anything about it, cause I'm a right handed player w/ plans that might get disdain from the Peavey group HAHA.
I always thought it looked cool when a lefty played a right handed bass, either strung correctly or upside down. So, I had an idea to make a lefty into a right handed players bass. Still don't know if I will follow through or not. I also thought about putting the neck on my CAR Foundation S. It already has a black faced headstock. So, I'd end up with a CAR Foundy S w/ reversed headstock.

@JEDI BASS ....Dyna Bass with left hand Foundation neck. Peghead was already sanded when I got the neck. Can't see them but it has left hand short black clovers.
Ha! There was a couple lefty black Foundations out there a few months ago. I considered getting one to put the neck on my fretless to make it a fretted bass (with flair). They disappeared, now I know where maybe one ended up!

I got the neck from Chip Todd several years ago when he was selling stuff on T60Mafia. It wasn't in pristine condition and neither is the Dyna Bass body pictured. Kind of a beater.
