Here are my 2 generation 2 TL5's:

The one on the left is the earlier one and the one on the right is one of the last ones made. As you can see, the early one is a darker blue. The body on the early one is about 1/4" smaller across. The early bass weighs exactly 10 pounds and the later one (with slightly bigger body) weighs 8 ounces more. The early one has PU's that are flat on the top...the later one has the same curved top VFL's as used on the Cirrus. The early bass has the generic bridge and the later one has the ABM as used on the Cirrus. The "TL5" on the headstock is in different positions. The later version (photo directly above) has a very nice looking "Peavey" and "TL5" logo that looks to be metal that is beneath the clear finish. The earlier version has decals that look blah in comparison.

I put TI flats on the early version and D'Adarrio XL's on the later one and so they sound a little different because of the strings. Prior to changing the strings, I compared the tone of the basses and they sounded exactly the same.

The condition of the later bass is better with the exception of the ding on the tip of the headstock. Someone with long fingernails played the early bass and it has marks in the finish that can be seen when the light it just right. Both basses look wonderful and the figure in the body wood is prettier on the later bass but the figure in the neck is prettier in the early bass.

Although it seems a bit much to have two of the same model basses in the same color....I think they will both remain in my collection. both are killer instruments. I paid $395 for the later one and traded a new Fender Player Precision for the early one. I paid about $575 for the P bass. So for less than the cost of a good 5 string I have a pair of killer TL5's. I'll do something about the gold knobs on the early one. I put Millennium knobs on the later one but may try to have the original knobs replated in black or gold.

When I went to Peavey and got my Cirrus husks I'm still working on, I asked Derrick about the switch from pointy logo to block. He said it happened when EVH came on board, they changed it because he didn't like the point logo. I've always like the pointy better.

I have seen both blank and finished bodies of Millenniums and Gbass when I have gone to the plant. I built out a Millennium for my son last month that I got from Derrick, maybe give him a shout.

Hey guys, I'm considering trading an acoustic guitar for an older (but allegedly clean and solid) Peavey TNT 130 bass amp on my local facebook classified site. But, one of the questions I asked was if the speaker was original, and the guy says the speaker in it is from "Pyle", which is how he got it. It seems I'd read these originally had something like a Black Widow, or Scorpion (I can't recall).
Would this be a replacement speaker, and if so, what's the story on this brand of replacement ?
Any help is much appreciated.

The standard speaker was the Scorpion and the upgrade option was Black Widow. The Pyle is a replacement speaker.

Yes, for sure. My admiration for the Milli has nothing to do with the outrageous price. Yes, that T-40 in Chicago is realistic. Even to buy it and part it out (like a lot of peeps do) is possible, but it just seems wrong and slimy to me.

Yeah, I cleaned it then and it looks very cool. Truss rod cover is actually not missing, I took it off to see whats hiding in there and didnt take it back.

Hey, especially for the price I paid for it, even used affinity squiers go for more more where I live... This thing has tone for days.
On the other hand I suppose it might need some fretwork done, it seems to me that either first fret is high or nut is cut too low, it started to buzz on open strings after I reduced the excessive relief of the neck.
