I guess next we'll be debating the Oxford Comma, although I've had a few basses that would have served better as boat anchors, ballast, or firewood, literally.

Well, my T-45 is just a scosh under 11 pounds, so I prefer to think of it as literally a bowling ball.
I am now the proud owner of 2 generation 2 TL 5’s in translucent blue. The one I traded for today needs TLC. I will post photos when I have time to clean it after Christmas.

I guess iam joining the club. I scored 90s Peavey Fury for a decent price last week. This thing is pretty roadworn and has a repaired neck and is desperate for setup. But man, its a fun bass to play! So far I really dig it, maybe I could change the pots, they dont feel very precise... And strings, previous owner strung it with cheap warwick steels. I wanted to try flats, probably ghs precisions. I kinda dig the feel of old and worn steel rounds lately, is it a way to go?

Strangely, this is my favorite TB group... most useful.. most practical... the kindest with correcting urban legends AND most welcoming with newcomer questions.
I was on a quest to de-bass a few ... ironically my Peavey count is still where it was a year ago.

Predictably, someone will walk up and ask if it’s boutique... we’ll then go into how Millienium are the avoided cousin (who later is the golden child)

I’m always cautious as folks will ask to listen to my website... I have the junk dialed in so that distortion only kicks in for power punk ... ballads are slightly compressed... it’s the blessing of a dedicated production team... continually refined signal chain (no variables etc).

Hi all. I bought a Palladium a couple months ago and just got around to picking it up from my MIL. It is beautiful with a thin neck, thick ebony board and balances perfectly on a strap. It also sounds really good.
Now to the issue. The electronics are totally messed up. The first pot generally works as a volume, the second is a blend that only works one way (neck pickup) and the tone pot does relatively little. Anybody have info on the original layout of the electronics? Also a clear shot of the original wiring would be helpful.
The feel of the neck and its looks make me want it to go back to its former glory. Thanks for any help you can give.

What models used the same tone circuit (asking for coaching help) — is it the same as a foundation?
NOTE... most models like this also had a non-traditional intent that the tone would also come from balancing pickups... most Jbass folks dorked it up

if anyone would know you guys would. for a mid 80's Foundation with the Super Ferrites, is there a noticeable difference between maple & rosewood necks? Sound/playability/'other' that could quench my most recent gas?
I know the blend pot isn't original. I also have a Foundation from a similar year but the cavity is a different shape which made me question it. I love a good Peavey VVT control setup as you can balance the pickups perfectly.

In my experience the answer has been "it depends on the bass". A lot of these old Peavey basses had individual character that defied the standard maple v. rosewood argument. Personally if you got the money, go for another one and keep the best one.
I'd definitely keep both. Just trying to justify the fact that it's another black body bass, although the maple looks amazing against it.
I agree that "it depends". There will probably be some difference but I doubt it will quench your GAS.

Tone circuit is nothing fancy 250k pot with .047 cap and a treble bleed cap. Blend pot is standard. I'll see about getting you a photo but be warned the control cavity on mine is the roughest woodwork job i've ever saw .
