I am single so there is no one to explain things to. Sounds like you have a cool wife.
I was needing to loose about 5 pounds and got sick with sinus blues and a upper respiratory infection and that took care of the 5 pounds. Today is the first day in about 3 weeks that my lungs are clear.
The virus that causes us to collect basses is not so easy to cure, is it?
I kinda nerd out on that stuff, especially pickup location. IME, the location of the pickup has a lot to do with the general harmonic tonality of a bass.
I hear ya. Was making a count today and realized that the majority brand of basses in my collection are Peaveys, at 5. 5.5 if you count my Ibanez with T45 guts as a 1/2 Peavey. 4 Fenders and 2 Squiers, hmm... that's arguable as being 4 or 6 "Fenders."

My holiday weight loss plan is being extra busy at work this time of year. So much so that I usually rack up 25-33% more steps a day and completely miss taking meal breaks.

Hey all. I was able to order some black, stacked knobs for the peavey TL-6 preamp from Peavey. Thanks to @Chuck M for mentioning the millennium knobs work with the G2 TL basses. Now it's going to be all black hardware. I was going to switch out the preamp because I couldn't find anything that would fit other than the original gold knobs. Happy for this forum and it's members!
Trying to work out a deal on a G Bass I found down south. 1st year one with the Modulus made neck. May be a week before I'll be able to lock it down because of the holidays, but if I do I'll post up some pics.

There's also a Gbass on GC used for under 5 bills if you don't get the one you're looking at, Tinindian. Personally, I think it's a little too high because I think a Gbass is worth $350 range. Now, if it was modded with a Cirrus pre and a neck pup, now you're talking. I did that once and sold it, of course.
Bell & Carlson. First ones had the exposed weave and later ones had the weave painted over with black gel coat.
The one at GC is $499.99 plus shipping and tax, which ends up at around $560.
$450-$600 is the range I've seen in TB Classifieds in the last few years.
The G Bass has the Cirrus Pre in it.

Technically it is a Cirrus pre, but it isn't. It clearly says Cirrus on the circuit board. No blend pot since it's a one pup bass. I'm very familiar with the Gbass. Also, has the same negative trait as the USA Milli, IMO. 35" scale with only 21 frets. I WISH the Milli and Gbass has 24 frets like the Cirrus. I know the fret spacing is the same, but it's mental to me. I haven't bought a Gbass in years and when I did $350 was the FMV (fair market value).
On the other hand been looking at T-40's. The prices are INSANE. A couple for $900 in mint condition with case and manual on Reverb.
I saw the one on GC and thats my back up, if it sticks around, if the one I'm looking at falls thru. The local one is right at 400 so I think that's a pretty fair deal. If I like it I'll track down a GV to go along with it.
GC has a GV as well but it looks like the pickups have been swapped for some sort of Jazz has pups. Who knows if the pre is different as well.
The T40 seems less practical for a working musician than a Cirrus, the various Millennium basses, G Bass and GV, Dynas, Unity Dynas, various Axcellerators and so on... yet it's often priced higher than all those "more exotic" Peavey models.
T40's have been trending up the last couple years from what I've seen.
They can list at $900 all they want. The price folks actually buying T40's pay is $350 to $500. Same as it's been for the last 5 to 6 years.
If anything T40 prices have dropped slightly.
Totally agree. I have no plans on buying a T-40. Was just looking at them more out of curiosity because of the Foundation-40 that Bigtone23 made. U.S. Peavey Club I like the T-40 neck on a Foundation body.
Look for an early DynaBass. There was a wider nut option for a short time.
Something to think about:
We rave about the quality of these US made Peaveys, especially the old T-40s, Foundations, and TL series. But, when we see them fetching fair (in my opinion) prices, some of us complain. Yeah, $900 is high. But, I’d pay $600+ for a great condition T-40, if I didn’t have 2 already.

Asking prices on the T-40 are high mostly because it's notorious for being a big, heavy bass that happens to sound good. There's no such thing as bad publicity, and it leads to inflated prices because people get curious.
The Foundation and Patriot don't have the same notoriety and they're easier to find for cheap.
