Ugh!!!! and on my #1 too

Sorry this happened. As ugly as it is, it isn't a mortal wound. Check the rest of the bass for hidden damage (like Petrus 61 suggested in post #22). I'd fix it because I'd get upset every time I saw it, but it won't make your bass unplayable. Book your next gig at a mile high ski lodge and see if your drummer knows how to roll. Downhill. Without skis or a board.

It won't affect the the sound or the playability and it shouldn't get worse. But I really try to look after my gear and, while accidents happen, something like this that I didn't cause would break my heart. Drummers. Can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em.

And, totally not meaning to victim-blame you, but... what do you use for a stand? My strong, stable stand goes with me to all my local gigs, and gets set up in a place nobody is likely to walk. For the odd long distance trip where I can only take the minimum amount of gear, the bass always goes back in the case when I'm not playing it.

It's fine. Sucks...but really, it's fine. Don't even mess with trying to "fix" it, as there's nothing to fix.

Hopefully this teaches the lesson to put your bass away when you're done with it. Just take the two minutes to do it every time, period.

That said, these are the only stands I will trust:

Totally stable, well built, fold up very nicely, nitro friendly, and dirt cheap. Nobody makes a better guitar stand IME.

I'd be getting the drummer to buy me a new neck!

I don’t want a new neck, the neck is pretty much what makes this particular bass my #1 ..... AND before any one chimes in to get a new drummer then, I like our drummer :) ..... but yes, he should have told me earlier.

Such is life.

I’ll get her looked at by a local pro.

Thanks for the help all.
