Uhhhhh!...my nut!!!

My nut is broken! I recently bought a lefty warwick streamer rockbass, I'm in love with it. But today as I was fondling my basses strings I noticed more fret buzz than before. So I'm thinking to myself, "who's the dirty bas-laundry that's been messing with my bass?" I first check the tuning, it's as I left it. I then check the bridge, same. I check the nut and see that it's lower than usual. I begin adjusting it to heighten the action, and watch as the just-a-nut lowers again with even more fret buzz.

The nut is threaded and no longer has grip, I was looking forward to playing today but now my fish is out of commission. I have no money to buy a new nut ImageUploadedByTalkBass1366082644.919756.jpg I just wanted to play:(

Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated

yep like JLS said, you can shim it. Also you said that the screw does not have any grip. Take the screw completely out, wrap some tape around it and try to screw it back in. Maybe there will be enough friction to keep it in place?

Yea I tried paper, my bro said to use cloth but as I kept doing this it kept stripping the hole and now the nail just slides through the hole. It's currently being held up by aluminum folded under the top nut piece. I just got this bass, do you guys think warwick will replace it? How can I tell if I have a warranty? Thanks in advance

Grow a set and SHIM IT! Play it, then when you can, get the stripped holes repaired. That's the beauty of the Just-A-Nut... it's an easy fix/replacement.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Fortunately, if you bought your bass new, you are covered by warranty for one year. Please contact our distributor US Music Corp -- 800 877 6863 -- they should take care getting you a replacement nut for your bass.
