Ultimate distortion is MINE!!! TONEBONE!!

I have never, ever heard better distortion for bass. There is little to no loss of low end, the gain from the real AX7 is NUTS--I couldn't get the drive knob past six, and what's more: there are about a zillion USEABLE distortions in this box--from fuzz to buzzsaw to power chord-type wall of sound.

I'm resurrecting an old thread here, but here it goes anyway...

Have you ever played an EBS MultiDrive? Especially in tubesim mode, it has a very dynamic drive... dig in harder, it drives harder. It makes what I would call a very nice "fuzz" kind of distortion. Warm fuziness on top of your tone, not a total reworking of it. It's probably on the subtler side of the distortion spectrum unless you turn it *way* up.

Anyway, I'm curious if you've had an experience with it and could compare it to the Tonebone Classic's sound. From what you were saying, it sounds like the Classic can do that kind of thing, but it also allows for a much wider variety of sounds as well.

Thanks!

I've finnaly tried this unit OUt, and IT FU*******G rocks**S I totaly dig IT, timmy-C-IN-a BOX yaaahh i'm just so mad it's so expensive!!!

Drphunky pants, did you try out the two channel version of this one,??? I might get this one, to use two tones of the all useable tones from this puppy!!!

I went to Washington Music Center today to see what I could find in the way of distortion/overdrive for a new rock project I'm working on. Knowing well how most bass overdrive units come off, I wasn't expecting much.

However, the helpful guy at the store showed me a few high end units--RustRide, Hughes+Kettner, etc. Then, with a grin, he brought over a Radial Tonebone Classic. "Isn't that for guitar?" I asked. "Yup" he said "I've sold five of them to bassists recently". Make that six.

I've owned a lot of gear over the years, but I tend not to write many reviews. I'll definitely put one up for this pup. If you have ANY means to do so, I STRONGLY recommend checking this thing out. It's AWESOME.

Hey Doc,

What settings are you using for a fuzz effect? I just got one, and am digging the tone. Retains a nice lowend grunt that breaks up really well.

Would love to get some kind of fuzz tone out the pedal if possible.
