Double Bass Ultra lightweight micro amps?

Ive been thinking about another small amp for quiet gigs even rehearsals. I currently have a Markbass CMD121P which does a great job for any gig that I need, but sometimes I just want a little reinforcement around the fundamental frequencies, and the amp sits on maybe 15-20% volume.

So it got me thinking if there is an amp which would be light and small enough to carry over the shoulder when I have to wheel the double bass along. Once you get below a 12 inch speaker, are the amps too small to produce the frequencies required?

Doesnt have to be loud, but a clear and natural sound is desirable.

For me, The AI Coda with the Mooradian Gig bag does the trick. It's 30% lighter than the Markbass (20 lbs vs 29 lbs), only a little smaller, but the Mooradian bag makes it so that I can sling it over my shoulder with the shoulder strap and the round shape actually makes it more comfortable so that a corner or edge doesn't do punches at my kidneys as the amp swings. I couldn't be any happier with the sound from it.

The guys at Bass Central did me a solid on the AI amps so I'm giving them the thumbs up on this one.

JtheJazzMan, have you checked out the thread about using Headway + Mackie SRM150? At 7. something lbs it kinda makes me wanna save up for one (and I've already got an EA Wiz. 110, which is pretty light as it is, but.. 7 lbs? And size-wise it's probably even easier for carting on the subway). I've played through w/ my Headway into small PA's (sharing w/ the singer) for gigs that were either singer-piano-bass, singer-piano-sax-bass, or either of those with drums, and it's been fine. The Mackie SRM150 looks to have a smaller speaker but.. I dunno, there's also that GK amp with two tiny little speakers, so I figure the Mackie thing could do the trick (especially with the Headway).

are you looking to amplify your sound for the audience or so you can hear yourself? if it's principally as a monitor, the mackie/headway combo works great, but it really doesn't put out enough juice to be useful as an "amp".

Ive actually been interested in the Phil Jones stuff but finding it in these parts is nigh on impossible.

Does anyone have the Bass Cub? I too am considering this for a practice amp and I'd love to hear what people have to say about it. I've only found a couple of YouTube videos, so it's been hard to get an idea of the tone.

I'm happy with my GenzBenz Shuttle 3.0 combo. Plenty of power, voiced for double bass and I can carry it with one finger. The 10" speaker handles the E string no problem, and it has a dinky tilt-back feature. I believe there's a carry bag available for it too.
